Chevrolet Chile Sales Down 11 Percent In June 2024

Chevrolet Chile sales decreased 11 percent to 1,502 units in June 2024. The figures place Chevrolet as the third country’s best-selling automobile brand during the month, behind Toyota and Hyundai.

Chilean auto sales figures are limited since reporting only shows the best-selling models in each segment. As such, no sales data is available for vehicles that sell in lower volumes. Nevertheless, individual Chevy model sales performance (for models for which sales data is available) was as follows:

In addition to the models specified, Chevrolet also markets the following vehicles in Chile:

Chevrolet Chile sales decreased 10 percent to 9,648 units during the first six months of the 2024 calendar year.

The GM Authority Take

After experiencing two consecutive months of increases, Chevrolet Chile sales decreased significantly during June and lost the positive momentum that had started in April after suffering 18 months of systematic declines. As such, Chevrolet’s new commercial setback last month interrupted the brand’s recovery at the beginning of the second quarter and again tilted the balance to the negative side in the total accumulated in the first half of the year.

Chevrolet Chile Sales Down 11 Percent In June 2024

While Chevrolet Chile’s most popular models had a positive overall performance in June, the brand’s decline in the month was driven by lower sales of several lower-volume models and the collapse of several nameplates, such as the Chevy Colorado and Tracker, which did not even appear on the list. The Chevy N400, Onix, and Silverado alone subtracted a volume of 168 units year-over-year, contributing to the poor overall result.

In contrast, sales of the Chevy Groove remained stable, with exactly the same number of deliveries as the same month last year, allowing Chevrolet’s entry-level crossover to maintain its position as the brand’s most popular vehicle in the Chilean market. Also noteworthy is the drastic triple-digit increase in sales of the all-new Chevy Sail, which is gradually increasing its level of popularity among local customers.
