The GM Authority Take

As in each of the previous months of the calendar year, Chevrolet Argentina sales registered a new notable decline during June, deepening the brand’s negative performance in the South American country. As such, last month’s drop represents Chevrolet’s eighth consecutive monthly contraction in the Argentine market, where it has been systematically losing volume and market share.

Chevrolet Argentina Sales Fell 29 Percent In June 2024

In June, the vast majority of Chevrolet Argentina models suffered double-digit declines, which together subtracted a significant total volume of 759 units year-over-year. Among them, those that had the greatest negative impact were the Chevy S10, which had the highest decline rate, and the Chevy Onix, which lost more than 200 units each. In addition, the Chevy Tracker suffered a notable commercial setback that harmed its performance both within the brand and in the crossover segment, losing sales leadership in both cases.

Chevrolet Argentina Sales Fell 29 Percent In June 2024

For the second consecutive month, the discontinued Chevy Cruze surprised again by recording an outstanding volume in June that made it the best-selling Chevrolet model in Argentina during the month. The compact car’s performance is circumstantial and is due to significant discounts applied in the dealer network to finish the inventory of existing Cruze units. For its part, the Chevy TrailBlazer SUV was the only one that managed to increase its sales in the month.
