The 2025 Chevy Colorado is expected to receive only minor changes for the upcoming year, after the current generation was introduced for 2023 and a host of improvements were applied to the 2024 model. Now, production of the 2025 model will start a little later than initially planned.
GM Authority has learned that the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2025 Chevy Colorado has been rescheduled for December 2nd, 2024. The previous start date was set for October 28th. As usual, this revised timeline is tentative and could change between now and then.
No information has been released from GM yet about the current-generation Chevy Colorado’s third year on the market. However, the 2024 Colorado was the subject of many changes and additions, the most notable being the reintroduction of the Colorado ZR2 Bison (RPO code ULV), which indirectly replaced the discontinued Colorado ZR2 Desert Boss edition (RPO code ZDB) that was exclusively offered for the 2023 model year.
Also, the Turbo Plus configuration of the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B engine was discontinued leaving the Turbo High Output variant as standard on Trail Boss, Z71 and ZR2 trim levels. Developing 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, the high-output tune of the engine is now branded as the TurboMax. The Colorado Work Truck (WT) and LT continue to be equipped as standard with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R engine that produces 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet. Both are managed by the GM eight-speed automatic transmission.
Inside, the 2024 Colorado also ditched the 8-inch Driver Information Center (URO) for the larger, 11-inch Driver Information Center (URF) as standard.
The 2025 Chevy Colorado will continue to ride on an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform, while production will once again take place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri, alongside the GMC Canyon, the Chevy Express and the GMC Savana.

Why not push it back, as they can’t get the canyons or colorados to Canada within a reason amount of time. 21 weeks and counting with the truck being parked for 15 weeks. Tired of the exscuses!
Strange, my friend ordered a 2024 Canyon and took delivery about 8 weeks later.
2025 production needs to be pushed back, to restore features removed from the prior generation and correct all the issues still lingering from the initial release in 2023.
Lack of power passenger seats and denting roofs from touchless car washes (GM’s half-azz fix, didn’t fix it) is not acceptable,
I don’t mind the delay. Just get quality control in line to deliver a reliable vehicle.
Not with Mary Engines Poppin at the helm
I agree they need to fix the problems with the 2024 Z71 Brake Assist module. The dealership that services my truck has been waiting for 7 weeks for a module. Now GM is telling me they were told part was Master Cylinder.
Sure go ahead delay, it makes my 2024 look even better!
TOTALLY SATISFIED with my 2024 Z71!!
I have both a 2023 Z71 and now a 2024 Z71, really like both of them, both of them have all options the 2024’s 11” dic is awesome…I actually drove all the competitions mid size trucks and nothing else was remotely close to the Colorado.
I find the quality of the Colorado is fantastic. I go to car washes almost every week and have had no issues with roofs (both of mine have sunroofs I’m not sure if that matters or not) I would highly recommend them.
Before I bought the 23 Colorado I was driving a 2022 Tacoma SR5 2WD my sincerely honest opinion is that the build quality of Colorado is much higher then the Tacoma.
Before I purchased 2024 Colorado I test drove a new 2024 Tacoma TRD and I actually was disappointed in it. I liked the 2022 Tacoma better.
For those who watch this stuff, that’s almost exactly the dates for the ‘24 SORP. They were announced to start around Dec 12 of 2023. Then in Dec. 23 they closed the plant for a week. Then they had the normal Christmas week shutdown. Production didn’t start until Jan. of ‘24. So, don’t expect the ‘25 to start production until at least January ‘25.
Got my ordered 2023 ZR2, January 2024, ordered Jan 2023. Love it. These dates do not mean anything. Got one problem I noticed recently that I need to take it in to get checked. When you remote start, with the emergency brake OFF, the truck jerks, (clicks) like it is going into gear for a sec. Only remote start. If the Emergency brake is ON, it does not jerk and click when remote started. The shifter is fully in park and no load on the trans once parked, flat surface. Wondering if anyone experiences the same.
I have not had this issue with my 2024 Z71. Seems like an easy fix???
Am I imagining this, or does it seem like supplies of the GM twins are slim to none? 3 GM dealerships in my town, and I’ve only seen 2 Colorados in the 6-months I’ve been checking in. Are we still dealing with supply issues due to the UAW strike and stop-sale initiatives? And it seems it’s the same story over at Ford. No Rangers anywhere.
Just received my 2024 Canyon Denali on June 3rd. It was ordered in January. Very nice. Very sharp truck!!
2024 rollout was bad for many reasons. 2025 delay is no surprise.
