Here’s When 2025 Chevy Colorado Production Is Scheduled To Start

The 2025 Chevy Colorado, which won’t feature any major changes or updates as the third model year of the pickup’s third generation, will start rolling off the assembly line in Fall 2024, GM Authority has learned.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the start of regular production (SORP) of the 2025 Chevy Colorado will commence at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri on October 28th, 2024. As usual, please note that this date is tentative and is subject to change at any time.

As a reminder, the third-generation Chevy Colorado debuted for the 2023 model year, overhauling The Bow Tie Brand’s midsize pickup. Notable exterior features include LED lighting offered for Z71 and ZR2 trims, while wheel sizes range from 17 to 22 inches. The StowFlex Tailgate storage system is also available, which is standard on ZR2 and optional for the rest of the lineup. Meanwhile, for 2024, the pickup gained the Colorado ZR2 Bison Edition.

Two engine choices are currently offered for the Chevy Colorado, including the Turbo 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine rated at 237 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 260 pound-feet of torque from 1,200 to 4,000 rpm, and the Turbo High-Output 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine capable of 310 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 430 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 rpm. The pickup rides on an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform.

It’s worth noting that both the 2024 Chevy Colorado and its cousin, the 2024 GMC Canyon, were subject to a stop-sale order that was lifted in late February. The stop-sale order was related to “intermittent software quality issues” that were discovered during the vehicle validation process. A fix was identified and implemented, and now the 2024 Canyon and Colorado are shipping to dealers. However, the stop-sale order never affected production of the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon.

  1. Wow1 The 2024 rollout has been a joke with very few to none available on dealer lots in my area.

    1. Maybe I should cancel my order for the 24, Z71 and go straight for a 25!!!

    2. They were on a quality hold in Missouri until March 1. With a typical 6 week transit time, you should start to see vehicles flood the dealership lots in the next couple weeks. There is also issue with hail damage from a storm so those will need to be repaired before shipping to dealerships. GM has had some bad luck with this 3rd generation launch. I got my ’23 Colorado Desert Boss a week ago, well worth the wait! You will love this truck!

I’ve had two lemon law exchanges now. 2021 Colorado was lemon law I got a 2023 Colorado lemon law and now I have a 2024 with $1,800 mi on it with a blown turbo.
I’ve never asked for the lemon law, Chevy is the one that initiated every time.
It’s fun getting new trucks but I’m starting to wonder 🤪

    1. Do you have your order #? Go to GMC.com and do a chat with the Bot and put in your order number and see what the status is. Mine was rejected by GM due to one of my options not being available and the dealership never told me. It sat there for 3 months and wasn’t going anywhere. My friend ordered a Colorado ZR2 beginning of March and he already has his production date. Something doesn’t seem right with your order.

  4. Finally got the 2024 ZR2 after no luck getting the 2023. Took it for a shake down drive through Death Valley yesterday, and no issues found. Better ride than the 2018 ZR2 I traded in.

  9. We ordered our Colorado in April of 2023 and still haven’t got it! The truck was supposed to have been built on January 16th and here it is almost 7 months later and still no truck! The dealership says they don’t know what’s going on so I called the plant in Missouri a few weeks ago and was told they were doing a reboot of the software, and our truck should be ready to be shipped out any day and we still haven’t got it! We are at our wits end over this whole deal!

  10. I ordered a 2023 in August of 2023, and then with the strike etc. etc. It got changed to a 2024. I am still waiting. I am told its because I want the convenience III package. At this point I might as as well just order a 2025.

  11. Is there any Truth to the rumor about the Colorado having an Extended cab model for 25?
    If so I’ll gladly wait!
