2021 Chevrolet Blazer Gains A Bevy Of Active Safety Features As Standard

General Motors reintroduced the Chevrolet Blazer nameplate for the 2019 model year, bringing it back as an all-new midsize crossover utility vehicle (CUV). Now, with the introduction of the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer, the CUV is poised to gain a swath of safety features as standard.

The big news is that the Chevy Safety Assist package (RPO code BN2) is now standard on the majority of Blazer trim levels for the 2021 model year, including 2LT, 3LT, RS, and Premier. The Chevy Safety Assist package includes six active safety features total, which means these features are now standard for most of the midsize crossover’s trim level cadence.

For the previous 2019 and 2020 model years, the Chevrolet Blazer offered these features as part of optional packages. These included the Enhanced Convenience and Driver Confidence II Package (optional on RS), or the Driver Confidence II Package (optional on Premier).

As for the latest 2021 Chevrolet Blazer, the Convenience and Driver Confidence Package (RPO code ZL5) comes with a different set of active safety features. This package sees no changes for the 2021 model year, and is once again available on 1LT and 2LT trim levels, and comes as standard on 3LT, RS and Premier trim levels.

With the Chevy Safety Assist package now standard on the 2LT, 3LT, RS, and Premier trim levels for the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer, General Motors is addressing much of the criticism aimed at it with regard to active safety feature availability. As we covered just last week, the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado will also expand its active safety features, with Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, and Forward Collision Alert all slated for availability across the 2021 Silverado 1500 model range.

For those wondering, the 2021 Blazer will continue offering Adaptive Cruise Control as an option on the RS and Premier trim levels. The feature is packaged into the Driver Confidence II Package, which also includes Wireless Smartphone Charging, HD Surround Vision, Rear Camera Mirror, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Safety Alert Seat and LED headlamps.

As a reminder, the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer is offered with three engine and transmission configurations, including the atmospheric 2.5L I-4 LCV and nine-speed automatic M3D, the turbocharged 2.0L I-4 LSY and nine-speed M3T, and the atmospheric 3.6L V6 LGX and nine-speed M3V.

    1. Maybe they’re waiting for 2022 after the New Trailblazer hits dealers in 2021 according to what I have read.

  6. No mention of updated pricing. I’m sure GM isn’t giving these features away.

  7. Curious what the price increases will be. They should at least offer the advanced safety equipment as an option on the L and 1LT and AWD should be offered on the 1LT with the 2.0T. Would love to see a Blazer SS with the 3.0TT but as we know that won’t happen with the current regime.
