The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Korea sales plummeted significantly during the month of June, further deepening the Bowtie brand’s negative record in the Asian country. In particular, Chevrolet’s dramatic fall in the sixth month of the year in the South Korean market represents the sixth consecutive monthly contraction and one of the highest rates of contraction. The poor sales performance shows the brand’s challenges in the competitive South Korean automotive market.

Chevrolet Korea Sales Fall 64 Percent In June 2024

All Chevrolet Korea models suffered drastic double- and triple-digit declines in June, led by a sharp decline in the domestically-made new Chevy Trax. Sales of the entry-level crossover continued to decline sharply, subtracting a significant volume of nearly 2,400 units year-over-year. In fact, Trax registrations for the month are one of the lowest so far this year and represent a notable decline from previous months.

Similarly, the brand’s other models had low sales levels in the month, with the Chevy Trailblazer having a percentage decline similar to that suffered by the Trax and the brand’s overall result. The loss among the imported model line was even greater, with an average contraction of 80.69 percent, and models with zero sales, such as the Chevy Colorado and Chevy Equinox.

  1. Wow, so they build them for lower case gm, but their auto customers have little interest in buying them or can’t afford them.

  2. Beginning to wonder if it’s because they are owned by an American company more then anything else. Guess it’s not enough for us to be a dumping ground for domestic Korean autos and appliances, which by most measures are junk.

    1. Yes. You won’t see many Toyodas in Seoul. I don’t know why GM just doesn’t stick a fork in it. They went from 10% market share to nearly zero.
