Chevrolet Brazil Sales Down Two Percent In May 2024

Chevrolet Brazil sales decreased two percent to 25,804 units in May 2024. The figures rank GM as the third-largest car manufacturer in the country behind Stellantis and Volkswagen Group, while Chevrolet finished as the third best-selling automobile brand, behind Fiat and VW.

Individual model sales performance was as follows:

During the first five months of the 2024 calendar year, Chevrolet Brazil sales decreased 7.6 percent to 112,553 units.

After temporarily halting a negative streak with a notable double-digit increase in April, Chevrolet Brazil sales fell again during the month of May. Chevrolet recorded a slight decline in its sales performance in the Brazilian market last month when the South American country’s automotive market, in general, was affected by logistical difficulties and a slight drop in demand for new cars.

In May, six Chevrolet model names in Brazil experienced sales declines, down a total of 2,429 deliveries year-over-year. The one that suffered the most significant drop was the Chevy Montana, with a year-over-year loss of almost 1,300 deliveries, followed by the Chevy Tracker, with 823 fewer units. This time around, the brand’s overall performance was not conditioned by the best-selling Chevy Onix, which did manage to increase its sales in the month and maintain its position as the most popular vehicle in the country.

For the second consecutive month, the Chevy Spin was the brand’s model that recorded the greatest growth, adding a significant volume of more than 1,000 units, achieving a 70 percent increase compared to the same month of the previous year. In fact, May was the first full month of sales for the updated 2025 Spin, which introduced a set of significant design, technology, and safety improvements that increased its solid leadership among Brazilian customers.
