2024 Chevy Colorado Offers New Illuminated Black Bow Tie Grille Emblem

Only a single model year removed from the introduction of the third-generation model, the 2024 Chevy Colorado featured a number of updates and changes over the preceding model year. That being said, the Bow Tie brand’s midsize pickup truck is now available with a new grille emblem.

The LPO, or dealer-installed option, illuminated black front Bow Tie emblem (RPO code R88) is now on offer for the 2024 Colorado. Available on the WT, LT, Trail Boss and Z71 trim levels – but not the off-road-focused ZR2 – this goodie will run prospective buyers $495.

In other recent 2024 Chevy Colorado-related developments, GM Authority recently reported that an Off-Road Front Bumper Package (RPO code BPH) is now available on the all-terrain Trail Boss and ZR2 trims, which includes (relevant RPO codes in parenthesis):

  • Off-road front bumper with safari bar (VH6)
  • Off-road bumper pod lights (5BO)
  • 30-Inch grille-mounted off-road light bar (S3W)
  • Wiring harness for off-road bumper lights (WRT)
  • Accessory switch kit (UJA)
  • Accessory power distribution box (SAB)
  • Performance Skid Plate (PZZ) (Trail Boss exclusive)

Interestingly, the Off-Road Front Bumper Package marks the return of the off-road front bumper with safari bar and 30-inch grille-mounted off-road light bar features after they were dropped alongside the 2023 Colorado ZR2 Desert Boss.

As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Colorado is powered by either the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine, rated at 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, or the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Output is directed to the wheels via the second-gen GM eight-speed automatic transmission, with both 2WD and 4WD drivetrain configurations on offer.

Under the skin lies an updated version of the GMT 31XX platform – which is shared with the third-gen Colorado’s corporate platform-mate, the third-gen GMC Canyon. Meanwhile, production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

  1. Why offer this when there is missing equipment and features that are actually useful and that people actually want: home-link opener, power passenger seat, sunglasses holder, driver’s side grab handle, etc.

This illuminated grill emblem is completely useless bling, which while there is nothing wrong with offering bling, the bling should be taking a back seat to the missing useful equipment and features listed above. To me, GM would sell more of something useful vs something useless.

    1. Light up the bootie. That should keep your mind off the roof folding in or the engine blowing up. Good job Mary Barely Intelligent

    2. I find nothing wrong with that option. -Let everyone know that you opted to go with a nice instrument panel, instead of a GMC tablet!

  2. I got two buddies bought 2024 Colorado LT. They both called me this month to use my 2018 Extended cab Colorado with 6 foot to haul stuff because their 5 foot bed came up short! You pay $40k and can’t haul with it! GM needs to come out with a 6 foot bed in 2025 or 2026! Totally, ridiculous to have 5 foot beds! ! FYI, GM Spring Hill retiree and 100% future Colorado buyer when they reintroduce a 6 foot bed!

    1. I think an 8 ft. box for a pickup is the optimum size anything less comes up short.
