2024 Chevy Colorado To Offer New Off-Road Front Bumper Package

Following up on the 2023 model-year refresh, the 2024 Chevy Colorado introduces several significant updates and changes to the midsize truck, while continuing to offer the Trail Boss and ZR2 trim levels for enhanced off-road capability above the standard model. Now, the 2024 Chevy Colorado will also be offered with a new off-road bumper option.

GM Authority had learned the Off-Road Front Bumper Package (RPO code BPH) will be available on the Trail Boss and ZR2 trims of the current Colorado model year in the near future, including the following elements (relevant RPO codes in parenthesis):

  • Off-road front bumper with safari bar (VH6)
  • Off-road bumper pod lights (5BO)
  • 30-Inch grille-mounted off-road light bar (S3W)
  • Wiring harness for off-road bumper lights (WRT)
  • Accessory switch kit (UJA)
  • Accessory power distribution box (SAB)
  • Performance Skid Plate (PZZ) (Trail Boss only)

Notably, the Off-Road Front Bumper Package can’t be ordered in conjunction with the ZR2 Bison Edition Package (RPO code ULV), an additional off-road upgrade for the ZR2 that is new for the 2024 model year.

The off-road front bumper with safari bar and 30-inch grille-mounted off-road light bar are among several elements that are being returned to the 2024 Chevy Colorado after they were removed when GM dropped the Desert Boss Special Edition Package (RPO code ZDB) following the 2023 model year. The decals that were part of the Desert Boss package did not return with the new off-road bumper package, however.

As a reminder, the 2024 Colorado is motivated by two powerplant choices, including the Turbo 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine rated at 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and the Turbo High-Output 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine dishing out 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Dropped from the lineup for 2024 was the mid-range Turbo Plus 2.7 I4 L3B gasoline engine.

Under the body panels, the Chevy Colorado is underpinned by an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform, while production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

  2. These trucks are great. I actually own one Dave, and I have had many other makes and models. This truck is better then any other mid size truck currently on the market. I

I have notice loyal fans of other brands either tying down this truck or exaggerate issues. I can only conclude they know this truck is top notch and it bothers them that it’s better then the brand they are loyal to.….I actually drove the new 2024 Tacoma (I had 2 year old Tacoma), the new Ford Ranger and Nissan Frontier…none of them where even close to the 2024 Colorado Z71…second place from me was the Nissan, then New Ranger..I actually liked my 2022 Tacoma better then the new 2024.

  3. GM screwed up. My Z71 Colorado has a power passenger seat. The new generation Colorado, you cannot get a power passenger seat in ANY trim level. So guess what GM. I’ll be keeping my current Colorado until you get your heads out of your you know what.

  4. Can’t get the trucks out the door, but they can upsell you on accessories that are probably on back order like all the other accessories.

    1. Yeah, what’s with the delivery problems? I placed an order for a Canyon with a large dealership back in mid-March and they informed me a couple days ago that the order has not been accepted by GM yet. Nothing close to what I want is in stock in the region either.
