GMC Canyon Average Transaction Price Up 20 Percent In Q4 2023

Introduced for the 2023 model year, the third generation of the GMC Canyon is highlighted by an all-new exterior, overhauled interior, and a bevy of tech goodies that bring Big Red’s truck back to the forefront of the midsize pickup segment. With that in mind, the average transaction price (ATP) of the Canyon made a notable jump over the course of Q4 2023.

According to a report from Cox Automotive, the GMC Canyon featured a 20-percent bump in ATP from Q4 2022 figures to $50,132 in Q4 2023. Notably, this was actually the second-highest increase in ATP numbers among the brand’s models, as the GMC Savana boasted a 22.8 percent jump to $50,928.

It’s worth noting that Canyon sales figures dropped 51.5 percent during this timeframe to 3,107 units.

As for what contributed to this climb in ATP figures, it’s likely a combination of two factors. More specifically, with the elimination of the base Elevation Standard trim level which started at roughly $28,000, and the addition of the pricier AT4X which starts at roughly $56,000, there is simply a greater number of more expensive Canyon units available for purchase.

Notably, sales of the Big Red fell 6.5 percent to 134,296 units in Q4 2023, while overall General Motors sales stood at a 0.2 percent gain to 619,684 units.

As a reminder, the third-gen GMC Canyon is offered with a single powertrain combination across the trim lineup, consisting of the TurboMax turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, and the second-gen GM eight-speed automatic transmission.

Meanwhile, 2WD is standard on the entry-level Elevation trim, and 4WD is standard on all other models. However, 4WD is available on the Elevation.

In regard to structure, the GMC Canyon rides on an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform – which it shares with the third-gen Chevy Colorado – while production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

  2. This is the spot where I normally can’t resist commenting that I’ve been waiting 11 months for a dealer allocation, after GM canceled my December build , ” thanks UAW” … but I won’t bring it up. 😉

    1. Lol First problem was ordering a vehicle that would take 11 months to get. Strike had nothing to do with your cancellation.

  3. I’m old, have owned 100’s of GM vehicles. My words of wisdom, BUY A TOYOTA!!!!!
GM is taking care of everyone but their true American customers.
Try getting a Canyon or a Colorado in China, South America or the Middle East. You may have more luck.
Don’t forget it’s always “TRUCK MONTH” at your local GM dealer.

  4. Custom build issues were around long before the UAW Strike . The trailer park crowd would rather blame the Union than clueless Mary’s incompetence.
