2022 GMC Canyon Elevation Standard Trim No Longer Available To Order

The 2022 GMC Canyon is the final model year for the second-generation pickup, offering only a handful of changes and updates compared to the previous 2021 model year. Now, GM Authority has learned that the 2022 GMC Canyon Elevation Standard trim is no longer available to order.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the 2022 GMC Canyon Elevation Standard trim will be unavailable to order for the remainder of the model year. Critically, the all-new 2023 GMC Canyon does not offer the Elevation Standard trim level. At present, all new orders for the 2022 GMC Canyon are now limited to Elevation, AT4, and Denali.

As GM Authority covered in July, GM is no longer taking orders for the 2022 GMC Canyon Extended Cab, which means the Crew Cab body style is the last remaining body style available to order for the 2022 model year. The Crew Cab body style is available in conjunction with either a standard 5.5-foot box, or longer 6.1-foot box.

Additionally, production of the 2.8L I4 LWN turbodiesel Duramax engine for the 2022 GMC Canyon ended on July 4th. As a result, the 2022 GMC Canyon is no longer available with the diesel engine option. That said, it is still possible to purchase a new diesel-powered 2022 GMC Canyon among units either in transit or in stock.

Earlier this month, GM Authority reported that certain 2022 GMC Canyon units will ship to dealerships without under-hood insulators due to a materials shortage. Affected units are indicated as such with RPO code R6N on the window sticker. It’s unclear if customers who purchase an affected unit will receive a credit in exchange for the insulation, or if the part will be retrofitted by dealers at a later date.

As a reminder, GM is now winding down production of the 2022 GMC Canyon as it prepares to shift production to the next-gen model in early 2023. The GMC Canyon rides on the GM GMT 31XX platform, while production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.
