The 2023 Cadillac CT5Â adds three new exterior colors to its palette: Argent Silver Metallic, Radiant Red Tintcoat, and Midnight Steel Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Midnight Steel hue.
Assigned RPO code GXU and touch-up paint code WA-138H, Midnight Steel Metallic is one of eight exterior colors offered on the luxury sedan, which include:
- Black Raven
- Blaze Orange Metallic
- Crystal White Tricoat
- Summit White
- Wave Metallic
- Argent Silver Metallic (new for 2023)
- Midnight Steel Metallic (new for 2023)
- Radiant Red Tintcoat (new for 2023)
The Midnight Steel Metallic color is an extra-cost option that adds an additional $625 to the sedan’s price. It is available on all three “regular” CT5 trim levels – Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport – and can be combined with all interior colorways.
For reference, here are all four available interior colorways offered on the 2023 CT5:
- Cinnamon with Jet Black accents
- Jet Black with Jet Black accents
- Sangria with Jet Black accents
- Whisper Beige with Jet Black accents
The 2023 Cadillac CT5 arrives with just a handful of changes and updates over the 2022 model, including adding the Driver Assist Package as standard and the addition of the GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist system to the options list of the CT5-V Blackwing. In addition, a CT5 Bronze Accent Package joins the lineup, while the Diamond Sky Special Edition Package is deleted.
The Cadillac CT5 rides on the GM Alpha 2 platform and features the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque on the Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport models. The twin-turbo 3.0L V6 LGY, rated at 335 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque, is available as an option on the Premium Luxury. Each engine is mated to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission. All of these trims are available in both rear-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive configurations.
Production of the 2023 Cadillac CT5 began at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan on July 18th, 2022.

Nice colour… finally!
Agreed. I’d order that color myself.
Finally got a color choice that suits a luxurious looking car!
The color name reminds me of the color of my 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500, only not. My truck is Steel Green Metallic. The Steel Green is more gray in some lights, and then in others the green comes out in it. I wish GM would bring back Steel Green Metallic- a much prettier color in my opinion.
Midnight Steel Metallic is a nice color if you like lighter blue. I feel that GM, and other vehicle manufacturers over-use blue shades and we seldom see shades of green.
That is a gorgeous looking color. I don’t mind black exterior color choices but I’m sick and tired of looking at white exterior as a popular color choice.
Kind of looks like my Shadow Metallic on my 2020 Cadillac CT6 Premium Luxury. Too bad Cadillac and GM axed the full-sized luxury sedans and are keeping the compact cars like the CT5 and CT4.
The better-looking Cadillac was those made somewhere around 2007-2008 or thereabouts.
This information contained within the article is not in agreement with what currently appears under “Color and Trim” within the “GM Online Order and Reference Guide” for the 2023 CT5 model or CT5-V model with respect to the statement that one of four interior color choices includes Sangria with Jet Black accents. The Sangria (“dark red”) interior is available with the smaller CT4 model. It would be great if GM did offer a Sangria shade of leather (perhaps with contrasting laces as featured in CT4 models where the piping on the seats appears white) for the 2023 CT5 model. The new exterior color is “acceptable,” but more of the same old, same old, from GM. Let’s see some truly interesting color options for the Cadillac division, such as offered by BMW, Porsche and even Genesis brands.
Nice color. Makes it look smooth and clean!
