All Refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500 Trim Levels: Photos

General Motors unveiled the fully refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 back in September, debuting a ton of changes and updates over the 2021 model year and pre-refresh 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited. Among these was a new look for the pickup, including an updated front end. Now, we’re looking at all of the refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500 trim levels side by side with the follow photos.

The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 trim level cadence is listed from top to bottom as:

  • Work Truck (WT)
  • Custom
  • Custom Trail Boss
  • LT
  • LT Trail Boss
  • RST
  • ZR2
  • LTZ
  • High Country

With that covered, let’s check out each of the refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500 trim levels:

Work Truck (WT)

The base-model 2022 Silverado Work Truck (or WT) keeps things simple, and is equipped with halogen reflector headlamps and halogen Daytime Running Lamps. The grille is done in black, and incorporates large Chevrolet lettering across the top, as well as a golden Bow Tie in the lower driver’s side corner.

Custom

The Custom trim level is the second model of the 2022 Silverado lineup, and also sports halogen lighting elements. The fascia once again incorporates black Chevrolet lettering and a black grille.

Custom Trail Boss

The Custom Trail Boss ups the ante with some light off-roading gear, while keeping the halogen lighting of the first two trims. The grille and Chevrolet lettering are done in black, while we also spot a black insert for the hood.

LT

The LT trim level introduces the mid-grade 2022 Silverado models, and comes equipped with LED reflector headlamps with LED signature Daytime Running Lamps with an Amber tracer animation. The fascia incorporates a different grille as compared to the lower trims, with a chrome divider bar and gold Bow Tie badge, as well as a chrome lower bumper treatment.

LT Trail Boss

The LT Trail Boss offers similar off-roading gear as the Custom Trail Boss, but is better equipped, including the same LED lighting as the LT. The grille is the same design as the LT, but dwith a black divider and black lower bumper.

RST

The RST trim is considered the “sporty” street truck of the lineup, and incorporates LED lighting bits. The divider bar and lower bumper are both body-colored.

ZR2

New for the 2022 model year refresh, the ZR2 trim level is the most capable off-roader of the lineup, and also incorporates LED lighting bits. The fascia is unique, with a Flow Tie badge incorporating a red inlay, as well as a unique lower bumper and skid plate.

LTZ

The LTZ trim level is the penultimate trim of the 2022 Silverado lineup, and comes equipped with LED signature Daytime Running Lamps and Amber tracer animation. The bumper and divider bar have a silver finish to them.

High Country

The High Country is the range-topper of the bunch, and is also equipped with LED lighting. The grille is unique, with broad horizontal slats, while a chrome lower bumper treatment is matched with body-colored elements.

As a reminder, the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is offered with four engine options, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine (which now produces 20 percent more torque for a maximum of 430 pound-feet), the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax.

Under the skin is the GM T1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Silao Plant in Mexico, the GM Fort Wayne Assembly facility in Indiana, and the GM Oshawa Plant in Canada.

  1. Still waiting on that build and price…..

  2. Configurator…

  3. They shouldn’t have you bed the custom….. But that might have been Intentional. The custom was selling better than the LT. Either way the custom with the 2.7 HO will have a starting price that will be so competitive it will move units regardless.

    1. Custom won’t have the new interior, remember

      Reply
  4. Let s hope (for) GM will start building these as planned in less than three weeks from now.

And with all parts, engines and options.

    1. The front facia on the work truck and custom is hard to look at, wish they would make the front facia the same as the LT.

  5. Nice breakdown GMA. Best we can get with GM not publishing the configurator or even any model range photos. Can see their heel marks from space

  6. The base versions are awful in my opinion. GM made them worse.
Also, I still think it is insane you need to go up like four trim levels to get the updated interior, GM as always needs to rid themselves of the lousy Beancounters ASAP. It is sad.

    1. To be fair, look at the XL F150 and it’s interior is crap on base levels. Same with Ram. Price for price they are all comparable.

      1. @Andrew
The base Ford interior is not great but the current GM 1500 interior is terrible. It was terrible the moment it was revealed.
GM Beancounters forcing two separate interiors is bad but making customers jump like four Trim levels to get the new updated interior is horrendous business. GM needs to get rid of everyone within the Company that is making these decisions. I guess I can understand (But Barely) the WT still utilizing the current interior but that should have been it.

        1. That interior for a WT is totally comparable and fine. It’s only kind of ridiculous on the custom trail boss. Also, you’re not really jumping 4 trim levels. If you’re in the trail boss category, that’s totally different. If not, you’re either getting a WT for commercial or a Custom in a lot of cases for consumers, it’s just going up one to the LT.

  7. I will take a Silverado W/T 4×4 regular cab with a 5.3, now if only GM would humor us by opening up the online build feature on the Chevrolet website.

  8. LT/Custom and below literally have headlights that look like the previous gen F150s. GM didn’t need to re design the front end of the Silverado it looked fine. Now it looks very tonka and outdated

  9. I think the RST, LTZ and high country look best… If you could get body colored bumpers on the LT trail boss it would look much better… And complaining about a base interior even Toyota’s base model interior is just cloth nothing fancy the same with Hyundai and Kia… These companies are there to make money not give things away.

    1. I agree on the RST, LTZ, and High Country. The refresh on those models for the most part exterior wise looks pretty nice. The interior will certainly be a real winner, but in my opinion, the Custom models are a huge step backwards, at least in these preliminary photos. The pre refreshed models are way nicer.

      1. I agree it is so sad to know that chevy would do this to the consumers.

        Reply
  10. Rev to be honest you don’t see that many lower level Silverados at least where I live and the W/T will probably mostly go to fleet sales for work trucks where people won’t care what they look like.

    Reply
    1. I agree, I,m in Ontario, Canada, and I do mostly see LT models and up, but with the huge price increases for new vehicles, especially in the higher trims, I would bet you might see a shift towards the lower trims simply because of the price.

      Reply
      1. The more I look at the WT and Custom models, I think the fact that the new models appear to have a flat black colour, where the pre refreshed looked more like a gloss black, is the big difference. The gloss black to me, looks a lot more higher end and less like another poster calls it, like a Tonka built truck.

  11. Thinking of buying a new 2022 GMC SLT 6.2 truck but want to know what is equivalent truck in the 2022 chev lineup? … and is one better than the other ?

    1. LTZ….but…don’t buy from a woke corporation…. G.M.

      Reply
    2. LTZ is Chevy equivalent. I think GMC is better on looks alone but that is subjective. They both have similar equipment.

  12. GM Guy, you are absolutely right. What the heck they were thinking in re-designing what was very good indeed. I am glad that I have mine as it is.
As someone noted previously, this trim level front end is screaming “I am cheap”

  13. Wow, these are pretty good, although I’m disappointed in the High Country.
Still can’t wait for the build and price configuration tool to go live!

  14. I like the ZR2 best and the the LT Trail Boss with the 6.2 But if I decide to tow an RV, would I need to go with an LTZ and higher trim level to get the highest tow weight?

    Reply
    1. Towing Capacity for the 1500 with 6.2l is around 9,000lbs, and that’s pretty much standard across all the trim levels for the 1500. If you are towing more than that, then I’d probably recommend a 2500 with the diesel, which can handle upwards of 20,000lbs.

      Reply
      1. This is what the 2021 GMC towing capacity guide says ..”12,200 LBS MAX TRAILERING CAPABILITY The Next Generation Sierra with the available 6.2L V8 and Max Trailering Package confidently trailers up to 12,200 lbs1 with the Double Cab and 12,100 lbs1 with the Crew Cab.”

  15. Though the configurator isn’t yet live, we dealers are able to order these vehicles. Anyone local to me in Detroit, MI, if you’d like to place an order, I can do so. I don’t charge over sticker and honor Employee/Supplier discount plans if applicable. Already have taken two orders from people who’ve reached out to me on GMA. Feel free to send me an email: cole(dot)gagliano@genesischevy.com.

    1. Do you have any timeline ideas on when ordered vehicles may arrive? Also, when might dealers have something in stock to check out?

I want a sierra but need to see some things in person before I decide on which package.

      1. Speaking only for Chevrolet, my first one is set to be built during the first week of production, which is February 7th for the new style. It’s an RST. If production runs on schedule and it takes the usual 2-3 weeks for a built vehicle to arrive, I’d expect it to be at my store in late February or early March hopefully.

    2. Only Detroit local? 🙂 If I have a reservation at my local dealer, do you think they should be able to put in an order now, or are there a ton of variables that affect this like allocation, etc? Could they be ordering trucks for the lot instead? Wondering if I would have better luck at a different dealer?

      Reply
      1. I’ll ship anywhere in the country if you want. Dealer size and allocation is a big piece of the puzzle right now. I’m not the biggest in the country, but I already have over a dozen of the new Silverados online production, including a Trailboss and ZR2. Shoot me an email if you want.

        1. Do you have any pricing or are these customers just ordering blindly?

          Reply
          1. Our order system has full pricing for all trims and most options, though there are a few, such as the 18” black wheels on the ZR2, where pricing is not announced yet. Pricing for dealers went live weeks ago.

  19. Saturn Man I agree there are to many…. For 2022, the trim levels are XL, XLT, Lariat, Tremor, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited. Adding 4WD to the base XL costs $4,645. Adding to all other trims costs $3,425. Even Ford eight sub models of the F150. Not even crossovers which are popular get this many sub models.

    1. I guess I must be too old school. Toyota has SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Editition, TRD Pro and Capstone models. BUT same basic styling except for grilles and finishes. Are customers confused?

  20. The custom and work truck trim levels are really ugly.

Honestly they should rework them before they start expecting people to buy and be seen driving them.
