The upcoming 2022 Chevrolet Corvette C8 is set to introduce a few minor changes and updates for the latest eighth-generation vehicle, including three fresh exterior paint colors. Now, the new 2022 Corvette colors have been officially unveiled.
At the National Corvette Museum’s recent 2021 Bash event, representatives from the Bowling Green Assembly plant announced three new exterior paint colors for the 2022 Corvette. These include:
- Hypersonic Gray Metallic (RPO code GA7)
- Amplify Orange Tintcoat (RPO code G48)
- Caffeine Metallic (RPO code GC5)
“Corvette continues to have strong demand,” said Car, Performance and Motorsports Communications for Chevrolet, Trevor Thompkins, during the recent National Corvette Museum event. “Most of the vehicles we’ve built have been sold orders personalized by their owners, so fresh colors help Corvette buyers showcase their individuality on road.”
It’s believed that the three new hues will replace Sebring Orange, Shadow Gray, and Zeus Bronze on the 2022 Corvette colors list, as GM Authority covered previously. Confirmation of the three new colors coincides with earlier reports that Hypersonic Gray Metallic, Amplify Orange Tintcoat, and Caffeine Metallic would be part of the 2022 Corvette color lineup.
In addition to the new exterior colors, the 2022 Corvette is also set to offer one or two new interior color combinations, as well as introduce a few minor changes to the features and equipment list.
What’s more, the 2022 model year is expected to introduce two new high-performance model variants, namely the Corvette C8 E-Ray and the Corvette C8 Z06, the former of which is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid powerplant with all-wheel drive traction, while the latter will feature a naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 DOHC engine with a flat-plane crank, new body components, and sharper suspension.
Meanwhile, the “standard” 2022 Chevrolet Corvette C8 will continue to feature the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine, which produces 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque when equipped with the factory performance exhaust system.

Caffeine looks great in the picture. Probably will look better in person, same as Red Mist looks much better in person.
The “New Roads” magazine put out for owners by GM currently has a story with a HTC in what looks like Caffeine with the body color trim option. It looks great! Check it out. Multiple photos.
Both should look way better in the sun. I like red mist, reminds me of my crystal red. Having said that, it would be nice if GM would have a true metallic red, i.e. no shades of burgundy, someday. Heck, Mazda and Ford seem to be getting close.
See article before this, that’s a car !!
Just what is needed, another gray color. What about light blue and green metallics? But the Corvette does give a wider range of colors than most other vehicles with limited restrictions per trim level vs interior colors choices than anyone else.
Should have had a purple before another brown that won’t sell. And I am a huge fan of Zeus Bronze.
I moved up to 1st place in line for the 2021 C8 corvette after my August deposit. I decided to hold off and asked to be placed 1st for the 2022 C8. When do you estimate the 2022 order will be placed?
It’s incredibly that so many think this is a GM web site. This is not the first questioned asked about an order 👵.
When are the other Corvettes, Z06, ZR1, ZORA coming????????
in that picture of the c8 in caffeine, the hard edges seem to have smoothened. it looks more refined.
I have a question for the buyers of a C8, who had ordered a 2020 or who ordered before the price of the 2021 went up on March 1st 2021 by a thousand $ and they did not pay a markup on their C8. I had ordered a C8, 2020 Feb. 19/02/2020 and was told I would NOT have to pay the price increase of the 2021 , because I did not get my 2020. What I want to know if any of you were charged that extra thousand for your 2021, even though we were told we would not be? Not counting the price increase or certain options.
I picked mine up and they honored the price protection
Thank you. That was supposed to say on options.
The caffeine and the gray both look great. If I weren’t too poor and too fat, I’d order one.
NOW THERE IS AN HONEST GENTLEMAN!
THERE’S ALWAYS LOTTO AND JENNY CRAIG, BOB!
That Gray is awesome.
That gray (and all there other dull colors) are boring. Everyone has their own opinion.
A Gray, orange, and brown are replaced by a gray, orange, and brown. So far, have just assumed this was a rumor that went awry. But, mainly, I just want my C8 I am waiting for.
We’ll wait with you jkl….while we wait, tell us your specs.
First they stopped offering crome wheels, now it would be nice if they offered “corvette yellow” again. instead of these ugly new colors.. must be trying to get the metro sexual crowd..
There are much better looking sports cars. From the back this thing is ugly. This is a Johnny come lately mid engine and all the raves are from people on this site who more than likely have not owned a real mid engine sports car or even a Corvette. Like it was said this is not a GM site. Instead of reading articles about how great this car is actually go drive one of the competition automobiles for more than a track run and do a real comparison and not from someone who does it for a living. Before you beatify this thing know what your taking about. Yes I have and actually owned a number of the competitor cars. Sorry but get real on this site.
The C8 was not designed to compete against super cars or other rear engine sports cars. It was designed with many Corvette styling queues, a daily driver and affordable. This includes the engine, very reliable well proven design and it makes it affordable to the desired market intended, past corvette owners and a new generation of buyers. The Corvette has always been about styling, not performance or handling though writers of certain magazines may only care about performance and handling. There is the C8.R track car and after market add ons are surfacing.
I’m so glad you declared to the internet you are rich and sophisticated. Personally I’m very impressed with your driving cred and previous overpriced sports cars you’ve owned. I can’t wait to grow up and be just like you. In fact, you really changed my mind, I’m going to order a Ferrari tomorrow!
Is the Amplify Orange Tintcoat a metallic paint or just a flat colored orange?
It is a flat orange, basically the sebring orange without the metallic
If you can’t even order one does it matter
In a weak moment, I went outside and looked into some alternate cars. This ended up putting an AMG C43 Coupe into my garage. I’m quite happy with it. Had times been more normal and without the prospect of an eighteen+ month wait, I would have eventually been happy with a C8 in the garage. Good luck to all of you still on the list! Hopefully these delays will be worked out.
How many months to delivery are your Dealers promising the 2022 Corvette?
I like the gray, but I have my heart set on the Rapid Blue. The other 2 color introductions look dreadful…especially the brown. Sticking a cool name on it does not make it look any better. Dog **** is the name I would give it. And orange just does not look good on this shape, though it looked ok on some earlier models that had rounder lines. Just as the front engine went bye-bye, the orange needs to go. Not a fan of the yellow either. A deep green might be interesting, perhaps even a mint green.
Had to replace tonneau cover for 2022 Corvette. The car is Artic White, but I need the color code for the underside of the cover. can not find it anywhere. Called dealership and they only had the Artic White Color Code. Nee Help
