Poll: Which Of The Three GM Full-Size SUVs Is Your Favorite?

GM has officially refreshed its full-size SUV lineup, unveiling a host of updates for each of its full-size utility nameplates in conjunction with the 2025 model year. That includes refreshes for the Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon / Yukon XL, and Cadillac Escalade / Escalade ESV. Now, with each of these models officially out in the open, the question becomes this – which of the three General Motors full-size SUVs is your favorite?

Before we launch into this, we should mention that this particular poll will be restricted to General Motors’ ICE-based full-size models, and won’t take into consideration the automaker’s new EVs. In addition, to keep things simple, we’re bundling together the standard-length and extended-length body styles for each brand into a single entry (Chevy Tahoe / Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon / Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade / Escalade ESV).

From the outset, there are a few things that each of these nameplates have in common. Each has three rows of seating, each is based on the General Motors T1 platform, and each is assembled at the General Motors Arlington plant in Texas. After that, however, the various nameplates start to differentiate themselves.

2025 Chevy Tahoe

On the Chevy side, the Tahoe and Suburban present large, rectangular front air intakes flanked by thin upper lighting elements and reverse checkmark signature lighting. The trim level lineup includes LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country, while the powertrain lineup includes the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, the latter of which is a new addition for the 2025 model year, replacing the 3.0L I6 LM2 offered previously.

Meanwhile, Big Red’s full-sizer, the GMC Yukon, takes things up a notch in luxury, featuring a 16.8-inch tablet-style infotainment screen in the cabin, plus an optional eight-inch diagonal touchscreen for rear-seated passengers. The trim level lineup consists of the new-for-2025 Elevation, followed by the AT4, the new-for-2025 AT4 Ultimate, Denali, and finally, Denali Ultimate. The Yukon offers the same three powertrain options as its Chevy counterparts.

2025 Cadillac Escalade

Finally, we have the 2025 Cadillac Escalade, which takes after the Escalade IQ in terms of styling. The interior of the new Escalade is dominated by a massive pillar-to-pillar 55-inch display, while the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist system is included as standard. The only powertrain option for non-V-Series variants is the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, but for those that feel the need for speed, the Escalade-V is the way to go, laying down 682 horsepower thanks to the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine.

  3. I think all three look fantastic but I have a preference over the Escalade. I will take the GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate next as a second favorite.

  4. I think the short Wheelbase Escalade is the best looking…I don’t really care for the looks of any of the long wheelbase models

  6. I’ve had a bunch of ‘Burbs from 1949 to 2022, two ’97/99 2×2 Tahoes, and one 2016 Esky. Loved them all but my 65 Carryall/Suburban was the best.

    1. Mike, I also had a ’49 Suburban – 350/4spd. LOVED IT!

      My current SUV is a ’14 Suburban 4×4 w/40kmi. I’ve owned about 9 Suburbans/Yukon XLs over the years.

      My preference of GM’s latest offerings would be an Escalade XL V – but WAY out of my price range.

      1. Nice. I’m looking for a 35/36 Suburban now. They’re out there but very pricey. Yes, that Esky V is a bad boy and way high-priced, but they have been selling them.

    Quiet ride, real power, with great looks. 2025 will
    Be next one in the driveway.

    2. Our 4th Tahoe will be a 2025 LS……..My wife has always had a Tahoe since we bought a 2005…..2009……..2017. All are still on the road doing great with 2 at 300,000 miles……

  9. On our 4th Suburban, next one will be Yukon XL Denali. Short wheelbase versions just look too fat and stubby, although they probably are easier to park.

  10. I would like to ‘like’ these vehicles – unfortunately people who have bought them say there are problems with both the 5.7 and 6.2 engines’ reliability.

    If they put a reliable Gas or Electric drive train in them it would be a different story for me.

  11. Just bought my first full size suv. Drove a Honda accord brand new 08 til January of 2024. Put kids through daycare bought a buiseness and was finally in the position to grab one and got a 24 RST. Could not be happier. Feel like I’m on top of the world driving it. Brand new still though so stay tuned on the reliability. We shall see. Accord was a beast. Little to no problems is mostly the reason I kept it so long.

  14. The Chevys. Especially the Suburban. It’s classy, but approachable in a mainstream, jeans-and-t-shirts kind of way. It doesn’t need to be as nice as it is, but it’s been around for 90 years for a reason. There is no more perfectly balanced vehicle that is both humble and noble. It fits everywhere, again and again, no matter what’s going on around it. It’s a real accomplishment.

  15. Have anyone mentioned that stupid low ground clearence in this big SUV’s? Look how really low are suspension arms. Every Mid-size SUV have higher ground clearence. When you stand behind one of this SUV’s you see how funny this low suspension arms look. What they smooking in General Motors? For them is important make bigger screen…

    1. It looks good. Hardly anyone takes these things off-road. Nearly all my 25 plus SUVs I owned for the last 45 years were lowered and they all did fine.

    2. I’ve noticed that to thought it was just me. Yeah it’s actually insane. Almost looks like a high speed bump would almost knick it. No joke. Definitely seems like could be an issue under the rite circumstances.

  16. Upgraded to Yukon XL Denali 3.0 from Expy. Couldn’t be happier as Yukon drives like a dream . As far as newer one goes, I prefer Tahoe/Suburban AT4 for interior layout as I am not big fan of vertical tablets. (I haven’t seen in person, so who knows, may be GMC is nicer :-). Having said that, nothing against Escalade, just can’t afford it today 🙂
