Chevrolet Chile Sales Up Two Percent In May 2024

Chevrolet Chile sales increased two percent to 1,677 units in May 2024. The figures place Chevrolet as the country’s second-best-selling automobile brand during the month, behind Suzuki.

Chilean auto sales figures are limited since reporting only shows the best-selling models in each segment. As such, no sales data is available for vehicles that sell in lower volumes. Nevertheless, individual Chevy model sales performance (for models for which sales data is available) was as follows:

In addition to the models specified, Chevrolet also markets the following vehicles in Chile:

During the first five months of the 2024 calendar year, Chevrolet Chile sales decreased 10 percent to 8,146 units.

The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Chile sales rose again in a healthy manner during the month of May, continuing the recovery that began with the double-digit increase in April that ended a long negative period of 18 consecutive months of contraction. As such, last month’s result represents Chevrolet’s second consecutive monthly increase in the Chilean market and allowed the brand to regain second place among the best-selling brands in the country.

Once again, Chevrolet Chile’s good performance in May was driven primarily by solid growth of the best-selling Chevy Groove and the all-new Chevy Sail. The entry-level crossover posted a double-digit increase, adding almost 50 sales year-over-year, consolidating its position as the brand’s most popular model in Chile. Meanwhile, the new Sail had a drastic triple-digit increase, practically tripling the performance of the previous model in May 2023.

Additionally, Chevrolet’s commercial truck line also posted a nice year-over-year increase and became—along with the Chevy Sail—the second nameplate with positive figures both for the month and in the cumulative total so far this calendar year. These increases allowed the brand to offset significant drops in several models, such as the Chevy Onix, N400, Silverado, Tracker, and Colorado—the latter two did not even appear in the records.
