General Motors pulled the sheets on the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 in October of 2021, debuting a fully updated light-duty pickup truck with a long list of changes and updates, including the introduction of a brand-new, range-topping trim level. Dubbed the GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate, the new range-topper is replete with handsome details, and now, we’re taking a closer look with the following exclusive GM Authority walkaround video.
Captured on the floor of the 2022 Chicago Auto Show, this 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate is covered in Titanium Rush Metallic paint, which is one of three new colors introduced for the 2022 model year, the other two being Dynamic Blue Metallic and Desert Sand Metallic. The front end shows off the pickup’s latest styling treatment, as well as a new Vader Chrome grille that’s exclusive to the Denali Ultimate trim level. By comparison, the “standard” GMC Sierra Denali is equipped with a chrome grille.
The new Denali Ultimate trim also rocks the Vader Chrome finish for the GMC logos front and rear, another Denali Ultimate exclusive. Finishing the front end is a set of chrome recovery hooks, which are tagged with RPO code VLQ and are standard on Denali Ultimate and Denali trim levels, but not available on any other trims.
Viewed from the side, we see this 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate wearing the trim’s standard 22-inch Low Gloss Black Aluminum Wheels with Machined Accents (RPO code Q7L), which are once again exclusive to the Denali Ultimate trim level. The 22-inch rollers are wrapped in 275/50R22SL all-season tires RPO code XCE. Notably, the profile styling was left more or less unchanged with the latest 2022 model year refresh.
Further features include GMC MultiPro Power Steps with rearward articulation (RPO code BRS), which include a foot-activated running side board and provide access to the bed. This feature is equipped as standard on the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate, and offered as optional on Denali, but is not available on the rest of the Sierra lineup. Higher up is a set of chrome mirror caps (RPO code DP9) with Perimeter Lightning. Bright chrome window surrounds / Daylight Opening (DLO) is also present and accounted for.
Moving around to the rear of the truck, we spot the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate’s rear Vader Chrome GMC logo. There’s also the CarbonPro Carbon Fiber Composite Bed (RPO code E3Z), which is standard on the Denali Ultimate, and optional on AT4 and Denali. To note, this feature has late availability for all trims in which it is offered.
Also notable is the MultiPro Audio System by Kicker (RPO code PDV), once again included as standard for Denali Ultimate, as well as the new GMC Sierra AT4X. The feature is optional on every other trim, with the exception of the 2022 GMC Sierra Pro.
Under the hood, the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate is motivated by the atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87 as standard, while the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax is optional. Elsewhere in the lineup, the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 offers turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, now uprated at 430 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine.
Under the body panels is the GM T1 platform. Production will take place at the GM Silao plant in Mexico and GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana.

What dumb SOB put those mirrors down there? Looks like sheet?
Mirrors? Which mirrors?
95 grand for the new denali ultimate with car mirrors , unfinshed wheel lip moldings with tiny little mud flaps that are unfinished plastic to, and it will have the new upgraded dash that looks like it belongs in a car or SUV with tiny little knobs
Can’t even get it in standard box in Shawnee aluminum rims
Designers when they learned it is more useful there. Helps with visibility. Who cares about looks, it is a truck, function > looks. Just the fact you complain about shows which buyer you are, the I have no use for a truck and want one for the image. Well I’m glad they don’t cater to you. Saw enough of your approach with the interior. Go buy a nice CUV, then you won’t complain about the ride or mpg…
Yea this truck looks very cheap. From the amount of plastic on the outside to the fake pleather on the inside this thing is just terrible.
Open your eyes!
That’s a nice truck but not everyone can afford one quit concentrating on building the one with the most and build my custom trail boss if I ever get it that will be my last don’t really appreciate being pushed to the rear of the line
Why even consider this vehicle to be a truck? Maybe the badging should be changed to Cadillac. Laughable.
Are you sure that’s Titanium Rush Metallic? I thought Titanium Rush Metallic was darker than that. Looks more like Quicksilver Metallic.
This thing got a Hemi in it?
Wish they would build my custom trail boss ltd if they are not quit yanking my chain
I have a 2019 Denali 1500 “carbon Pro” with literally every feature they show here. The updated dash is the only difference. Paid $70k. I was all excited about this until I see there is literally nothing getting upgraded besides the dash…
