The GM Authority Take

Cadillac Canada sales increased slightly during the third quarter of the year, representing the luxury brand’s first positive result in the country after two exactly two consecutive years of contraction. As a result of the aforementioned negative trend, year-to-date sales in the first nine months of 2019 remained below those recorded during the same period in 2018.

The upswing in Cadillac Canada sales in the last quarter was achieved thanks to the strong performance of the XT4, which registered its best quarter to date, and to sales of the all-new 2020 XT6, which completed its first quarter in the market. These two crossovers managed to compensate for the significant decrease in sales for the rest of the brand’s models.

As a matter of fact, six of the eight Cadillac models suffered a sales decline over a year-to-year basis. The cars were the most affected in the third quarter, a result of the constant drop in demand for sedans in addition to the discontinuation of the ATS, CTS and XTS models that reached the end of their life cycle. However, sales of the XT5 and Escalade also fell significantly.
