Our launch coverage of Chevy’s all-new fourth-generation Silverado continues, this time with interior photos of the 2019 Silverado Custom (as per popular demand).
As we explained when showing you the exterior photos, the Silverado Custom (equipment group 1CX) is based on the base Silverado work truck and features a body-color styling scheme. The interior doesn’t stray too far from that of the Work Truck trim. Here’s our guided photo tour.
Seats
The only available configuration for the front seats is the 40/20/40 split-bench in a Jet Black cloth color (H1T). Both of the front chairs feature 4-way manual seat adjusters.
The rear seat is the standard 60/40 folding bench (that folds up) and seats three passengers; it includes a top tether anchor for the child seat. Notably, the rear seat is upgradeable to a 60/40 split seat with the rear storage package, which adds:
- Seatback storage on the left and ride side
- Center fold out armrest with two cupholders
- Underseat jack storage
All 2019 Silverado units, including the Custom, feature assist handles in the front (mounted on on the A-pillar) and in the rear (mounted in the B-pillar).
Controls
The 2019 Silverado Custom features a urethane steering wheel and a manual tilt column. A telescoping steering wheel adjustment is not available. The steering wheel features controls on the left for cruise control, which is standard on the Custom. By comparison, the 2019 Silverado Work Truck offers cruise control as an option.
Just like on the Work Truck, the right-hand-side steering wheel controls are blanked out on this model. A push-button parking brake is standard, visible just below the left-hand-side HVAC vent.
The truck’s instrument cluster features the following six gauges: speedometer, fuel level, engine temperature, tachometer, voltage and oil pressure. There’s an exterior temperature display (located in the radio display). A 3.5-inch monochromatic Driver Information Center is located between the speedo and tach. There’s also a compass located in the instrument cluster (OnStar must be ordered for the compass to work).
A Tire Pressure Monitoring System with Tire Fill Alert is standard and applies to the truck’s four tires (does not apply to spare tire).
Comfort & Convenience
The 2019 Silverado Custom features the following standard comfort and convenience features. The list is rather basic, which is the entire point of the no-frills Custom trim:
- Power door locks
- Power windows with:
- Driver express up/down
- Front passenger express down
- Rear express down
- Remote Keyless Entry with 2 transmitters
- Color-keyed floor carpeting
- Rubberized vinyl floor mat (front and rear)
- Inside rearview mirror with manual tilt (no auto-dimming mirror is available)
- Single-zone air conditioning with rear-seat HVAC vents
Technology
The 2019 Silverado Custom features the following standard in-vehicle technologies:
- Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system audio system (IOR) with:
- 7″ diagonal color touchscreen
- AM/FM stereo
- Bluetooth audio streaming for 2 active devices
- Voice command pass-through to phone
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Bluetooth for phone and connectivity to vehicle infotainment system
- Front auxiliary 12-volt power outlet
- Single USB port located on front of instrument panel
- Rear Vision Camera
- Teen Driver, a configurable feature that owners you activate customizable vehicle settings associated with a key fob to encourage safe driving behavior. The feature can limit certain vehicle features and prevents certain safety systems from being turned off. A vehicle report card gives owners information on driving habits.
The Silverado Custom gets a standard six-speaker audio system (UQF) along with Chevrolet 4G LTE and a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, which offers a fast and reliable Internet connection for up to 7 devices. The truck includes a data trial for 1 month or 3GB (whichever comes first). 4G LTE is included only when OnStar is ordered, itself part of the infotainment package (ZLA).
What’s more, the truck comes standard with Chevrolet Connected Access with 10 years of standard connectivity, which enables:
Safety
Like all fourth-gen Silverado units, the 2019 Silverado Custom features the following airbags for passenger safety:
- Dual-stage frontal airbags for driver and front outboard passenger
- Seat-mounted side-impact airbags for driver and front outboard passenger
- Head-curtain airbags for front and rear outboard seating positions
The airbag system includes front outboard Passenger Sensing System for the frontal outboard passenger airbag.

Thanks for sharing. When GM showed this trim level earlier this year in a black crew cab on the street in their promotional photos, I personally assumed the grill and front bumper were black like the Work Truck, which isn’t a good look at all IMHO.
Glad it’s body color. Really like the wheels as well. Looking forward to seeing this particular model in the flesh. A 5.3 4X4 double cab of this model may be my next truck.
How far off $29 thou is this version?
Probably not that far off… but there aren’t any prices yet so won’t know for another few days
Rear wheel drive starts at $34,600 all-wheel-drive $35,500 . Custom convenience package $800. Infotainment package $275. Custom value package $1400. 5.3 L V8 $1395.
And and I also see the 2.7L will be optional on the work truck. No price listed for that.
Correction 4 Wheel Drive $37,900.
Glad I have a 2018 because they sure are ugly now! No more Chevy for me if they keep this space cadet bodystyle
You call this ugly? Its a colossal improvement from the bland, boring, forgettable last gen.
They take a chance and do a bold design like this and they get haters; they play it close to the vest and do a conservative design like the last gen and people still complain.
Some people are impossible to please. But they’re probably not the target market anyway.
You always have the traditional Sierra if you’d like.
I’m not going to call neither the new Silverado or Sierra ugly, I’ll probably get one of them, but I do kind of prefer the previous generation. These are great also. I like the power train options better this time though. I’m just waiting on more information on that 3.0. I think it’s that or the 5.3 for me, although I’d be more than happy to have a 6.2 also. The 2.7 seems impressive, but I’m just not sure about that one yet.
Looks comfortable and simple! Nicely done.
The interior looks like it was developed by Rubbermaid. Why does GM select the blandest, most lifeless fabrics and seat patterns known to man for Chevys?? Again, this pales in comparison to Ram or even Ford.
Though I agree with you in theory, I must point out that the competition’s work truck level models are not much better from an interior standpoint.
I’d argue they (Ram & Ford) are worse.
Every write up that I have seen says that the interior in the 2019 is a disappointment especially compared against the new RAM which is described as excellent.
Sorry, no… I work at a combined Chevy/CDJR dealership and the Ram interiors are far better than any of the comparable Chevy interiors. Obviously, I have not seen the 2019 Silverado interior in person yet, but it doesn’t look much better than the last-gen.
The exterior does look good though, a noticeable improvement over the bland last-generation Custom.
The Ram’s interior is so much better, in my opinion the Ram’s interior is even better than the Denali’s.
I used to call the Ram the ugliest truck on the road, especially the grill. But they have really upped their game. BTW, I’m not an FCA fan at all but look at that interior.

This is a custom. It’s almost like a Work Truck and LT combined.
Very well done Alex, good use of pictures and descriptions.
As previously noted, the clean and simple look of the Custom could appeal to the more old school/traditional truck buyer. Adding the Custom Value Package(PDX) checks just enough boxes to satisfy the needs of many, without adding too much “stuff” that some folks simply don’t want. GM/Chevy should seriously consider a package like this for the Colorado.
Thank you very much, I appreciate the kind words 🙂
I do believe the next gen Colorado will have a similar trim level structure as the new Silvy, although with a few trims removed. Custom and custom TB should be on deck, though.
You can get the Colorado as a custom. It is not its own trim level. You have to pick the WT and then add the custom package to it.
That’s one ugly interior. Have any of you guys seen the 2019 RAM? It puts all versions of the Silverado to shame. And then there’s E torque…
The RAM interior is nice. It’s nicer on the expensive versions of course, just like everyone else. If you go to the lower trim levels of the RAM, it’s similar to this give or take some things. It’s like a Tradesman This is just one configuration shown. No one knows until Chevrolet puts the build configurator on their website. This trim/package is really slotted between the WT trim and LT. It’s marketed to someone that wants to pay a low price, but get some modern features, and some very minor appearance features. Custom seems to be replacing the LS trim level this year
When I think of custom interior I’m not thinking of cloth seats.
The Custom trim level was introduced last generation to slot in between the LS and LT trims. This generation it slots between the WT and LT trims. It’s just meant to be a basic model with some upgraded features.
Couldn’t they have at the very least put some two tone contrasting colors in the interior? Some grey with the black etc. So tired of the all black interiors forced on us these days.
The styling is even unattractive. The lower part of the center stack juts out with the ugly exposed connection ports and plastic blanks right in your face. The entire passenger side of the dash, even on High Country models, is a sea of molded plastic with no trim of any kind to break it up. Every trim of the Ram is vastly superior. Who in the bowels of GM hates interiors so much and is allowed to call the shots??!!
Is this the look of the grilles of future Chevy trucks, with the name “Chevrolet” spelled out and the bowtie down below and off to the side? or is it just for this particular Silverado model?
Just certain trims.
I have one and think the exterior looks fantastic performance is also good. My biggest problem comes in the interior. There are no storage options in this interior the armrest has nothing to open up and store things and there are no pockets on the back of the seats there’s not even an ashtray to put coins in only the two cupholders and little spaces on the armrest or a small space on the dash by the front windshield.
Does anyone know where the Instrument Panel Illumination Control is on the Custom ? I dont seem to have it next to the ligth switch.
