The 2025 GMC Canyon is expected to receive minor changes and enhancements for the upcoming year, after the current generation hit the market for 2023 and a bunch of improvements were performed on the 2024 model. However, production of the 2025 model will start a little later than initially planned.
GM Authority has learned that the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2025 GMC Canyon has been rescheduled for December 2nd, 2024. The previous start date was set for October 28th. This revised timeline is tentative and subject to change between now and then.
No details have yet been announced from GM about the current-generation GMC Canyon’s third model year. However, the 2024 Canyon received several changes and additions, the most notable being the introduction of the Canyon AT4X AEV Edition (RPO code XEV), which indirectly replaced the discontinued Canyon AT4X Edition 1 variant (RPO code XS1) that was exclusively offered for the 2023 model year.
As before, all 2025 GMC Canyon trim levels will be equipped with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B engine developing 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, now branded as the TurboMax. A revised GM eight-speed automatic transmission handles the shifting duties. Only the Elevation trim level is offered in 2WD and 4WD configurations, while four-wheel drive is standard on AT4, AT4X and Denali trims.
Inside, the 2024 Canyon also ditched the 8-inch Driver Information Center (URO) for the larger, 11-inch Driver Information Center (URF) as standard.
The 2025 GMC Canyon will continue to ride on updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform, while production will once again take place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri, alongside the Chevy Colorado, the Chevy Express and the GMC Savana.

Laughable! You can’t even get a 2024! 21 weeks waiting and still sitting in Wentzville!
2024 canyons are a dime a dozen on GMC lots in BC
Laughable! You can’t even get a 2024! 21 weeks waiting and still sitting in Wentzville! What’s going on with there process besides loss. Customers deserve answers!
Well it was a real nice day in NJ so I was driving my older Camaros around I was out about 1 hour and I counted 12 New BRONCOS on the roads it’s really sad what GM has done to the hole industry ………..why couldn’t we make A real Blazer not another SUV that looks like a Equinox .and also let’s make some car AGAIN! Very sad in NJ
Laughable! Work on the 24s first!
Hopefully the extra time is needed to add a Duramax option! 😉
Are they going to put in a power rear sliding window? And homelink?
Well that would be nice, bugs me to have to get out and open the rear window…really help Air flow in the cab. And home link..OMG I paid 63000 for my AT4 and I have to use a remote on my visor…at least make it an option GM…
I had a ’23 Canyon AT4, in Volcanic Red Tintcoat. The truck looked awesome but I had nothing but problems. I had it about 8 months and traded back for a ’22 Canyon, like the one I traded in!!! The blind spot monitoring would look like Christmas tree lights, almost constantly. Both the driver and infotainment screens would go black. I never had the problem with the updates draining the battery. My dealer worked like crazy to correct the problems but they just kept coming back. Like others have said no Homelink, hood struts and for over 50,000!!
When is the Canyon Hybrid due to be built?
Just looked at the canyon AT4X, loved the looks on the outside. Opened the door, seen the white leather interior, shut the door and drove away.
What were they thinking?!
BS The 2024 AT4X DOES NOT have a white interior it has a small white accent on the door panel and the dash inset DOES NOT repeat does NOT have white leather interior
Agree, about the dumbest thing i seen also. White leather in an off road designed truck. You have to wonder who they have working there.
Bought a 2024 GMC Canyon without sunroof. Went to a car wash and the roof caved in and left a large dent due to no reinforcement . It has been in the body shop twice to get dent removed and GMC advised me to use a different car wash. They have not offered any structural cure and the body shop tells me that it will do it again. I plan on taking GMC to task with lemon laws. I have owned this truck for three months and only drove it for two due to factory repairs to headlights and roof issues.
