The GM Authority Take

After experiencing six months of consecutive increases, Chevrolet Korea sales suffered a drastic double-digit decline in April. Chevrolet’s setback last month interrupted the positive streak it had maintained since the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2023 and represents a significant volume reduction for the brand of almost 3,000 units year after year in the South Korean market.

Notably, all Chevrolet Korea models saw their sales decline sharply in April, with large losses of up to triple digits. The best-selling new Chevy Trax was the nameplate with the drop that had the most impact on the overall result, suffering a steep decline of 1,335 deliveries for the month. Still, the entry-level crossover maintains an outstanding lead as the brand’s best-selling model and saw a month-on-month recovery.

The Chevy Trailblazer followed with a notable loss of 583 units year-on-year but remained stable compared to previous months. Additionally, the U.S. imported vehicle lineup declined most dramatically in the month, with 683 fewer deliveries and the highest loss rates, primarily in the all-electric Chevy Bolt family. This is in addition to the natural loss of units of discontinued models such as the Chevy Spark and Malibu that recorded their last during the last year.
