Chevy Equinox Sales Exceeded Expectations In November 2023

First introduced for the 2018 model year, the third-generation Chevy Equinox is set to be supplanted by the 2025 Chevy Equinox next year, which will stand as the first model year of the Bow Tie brand’s fourth-gen compact crossover. Despite the impending model, the third-gen Equinox posted great sales figures in November 2023.

Over the course of November 2023, dealerships across the United States delivered almost 17,000 units of the Chevy Equinox. Assuming this 17,000 figure was consistent in October 2023 and December 2023, this would put Equinox sales at approximately 52,000 units in Q4 2023. For a model that’s set to be redesigned sooner rather than later, this is certainly a respectable statistic.

For reference, General Motors delivered roughly 48,000 Equinox models during Q3 2023, which places the compact crossover at fifth in its segment. Notably, this puts the crossover between the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and Subaru Forester, which sold 52,589 and 45,035 units, respectfully. If the possible trend mentioned above were to be true, then the Equinox could likely jump up to third in its segment assuming other compact crossovers post similar figures as before.

Chevrolet Equinox Sales - Q3 2023 - United States

In the United States, Chevrolet Equinox deliveries totaled 48,291 units in Q3 2023, an increase of about 4 percent compared to 46,646 units sold in Q3 2022.

In the first nine months of the year, Equinox sales decreased about 6 percent to 154,142 units.

As a reminder, the current 2024 Chevy Equinox is available with just one powerplant, the new-for-2023 turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine, which is rated at 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. In regard to shifting duties, the GM six-speed automatic transmission serves as the sole transmission option.

Notably, the LSD engine replaced the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine, which previously produced 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque.

Under the skin, the Equinox rides on the GM D2 platform, which it shares with the GMC Terrain. Meanwhile, production of the 2024 model year officially kicked off in May 2023 at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant and the GM San Luis Potosí plant, both of which operate out of Mexico.

  1. As long as they continue to discount it in the range of $7-10K, it deserves to give the RAV4 a run for the money. And it’s reliable too. I can see why GM wants the new one out sooner rather than later but that one won’t be discounted much, if at all. Buyers NEED something like this right now. The current one.

    1. Dealers aren’t discounting them very much around here. Local dealer is currently advertising a $700 discount on 2024 Equinox units in stock, plus any available in-market incentives. For example, local dealer has a 2024 Equinox RS. MSRP $35,145. Discounted Dealer price $34,384. Final “Red Tag” event price after all incentives $33,384.

No dealer around here is anywhere near a $7K-$10K discount.

      1. The trick that I discovered when shopping for my current vehicle (a ’17) is to check AutoTrader and not dealer sites. You’d see Noxes discounted today $9K in California and around where I live, $7K. If you’re willing to drive up to 300 miles, which is my max. Had no problems with them honoring the posted price.

  2. Also it seems through all these shortages the dealer managed to always have some of these there.

  3. Paul the delerss aren’t going to stock models like let’s say a Camaro or base model Colorado besides all the new Colorados I see are top trim or close to it. Right now the Trax, Equinox and trailblazer are hot sellers so that’s what the dealership will keep in stock or go out of their way to get for a customer because the customer is less likely to back out if they to wait for delivery from another dealership further more I have heard nothing about Chevy Equinox shortages and finally they are good reliable SUVs/CUVs I own a 2020 equinox 2.0t lt and the wife and I love it it’s one of the best cars I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned American and Japanese cars. I am looking forward to the 2025 equinox rumor has it the 2.0t or an engine like it is making a comeback.

    1. Equinox had a recent temporary shortage due to transportation problems getting them out of Mexico (summer ’23).
