Chevy Equinox Inventory Strong In November 2023

GM Authority has learned from sources close to the matter that inventory levels across the United States of the Chevy Equinox remained strong in November 2023.

There were roughly 29,000 units of the Chevy Equinox on the ground at dealerships as of early November 2023, with an additional 11,000 examples in transit to dealers. This gives the Equinox a 52 days supply, meaning that inventory levels are able to sustain 52 days worth of current sales volume. For context, a 60 days supply is considered optimal across the automotive industry.

Looking forward, it’s likely that inventory levels will continue to improve into Q4 2023, as General Motors resumes shipping more Equinox units to the U.S.

As background, inventory levels of the Equinox bottomed out in June 2023, with approximately 5,700 units on dealership lots and 6,800 examples en route for a 14 days supply. Since then, inventory figures have steadily increased, rising to an 18 days supply with 7,900 units on dealer lots in July 2023, and 10,900 units on site for a 24 days supply in August 2023.

It’s worth noting that sales of the Bow Tie brand’s compact crossover rose over the course of Q3 2023, reflecting the increasing days supply figures over the past few months.

Chevrolet Equinox Sales - Q3 2023 - United States

In the United States, Chevrolet Equinox deliveries totaled 48,291 units in Q3 2023, an increase of about 4 percent compared to 46,646 units sold in Q3 2022.

In the first nine months of the year, Equinox sales decreased about 6 percent to 154,142 units.

As a reminder, the current 2024 Chevy Equinox is offered with just one powerplant, the new-for-2023 turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine, rated at 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. Output is directed to the pavement via the GM six-speed automatic transmission.

Notably, the LSD engine replaced the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine, which produced 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque.

Under the skin, the Equinox rides on the GM D2 platform, while production of the 2024 model year officially kicked off in May 2023 at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant and the GM San Luis Potosí plant, both of which are located in Mexico.

  1. Guess Mary finally figured out how to get them across the border.
Discounts are huge on these (even ’24s) but you really are buying old-tech. I’m not sure what I’d do if I was buying this year.

    1. Funny, here you’re complaining an Equinox is old tech. But when they upgrade, you’ll have to pay for the connection of the new tech and you’ll complain.

    2. No dealer discounts around here. MSRP all day, less any in-market rebates.

With the restyle coming soon, dealers are going to have to start doing some discounting to keep lots clear.

If you absolutely *need* a vehicle and the Equinox is your choice, just buy the 2024. At least you are getting something that has had most of the glitches ironed out.

If you don’t really need something, then you either buy now and get a reliable design or wait and get a first year redesign and hope for the best. If you are getting a “huge” discount, buy the 2024.

  3. Old tech is what some people can afford especially with the prices of everything going up right now… Beachy speak for yourself we own an 2020 Equinox and the tech is just fine with us I am 44 and my wife is 41 years old. Not everyone needs to drive a tablet on wheels around!

    1. Yes, we have a 19 Nox Premier and it’s great! Compared to my 12 Silverado it is very high tech, more than I want but the wife likes it.

Drove smooth and straight; towed 3500 lb boat/ trailer…new one can’t. Might try to find a low mileage 2020 with the 2.0 engine.
