Chevy Equinox Inventory Improves Significantly In August 2023

Inventory levels across the United States of the Chevy Equinox improved significantly in the beginning of August 2023, sources familiar with the matter tell GM Authority.

There were about 10,900 units of the Chevy Equinox on the ground at dealerships as of early August 2023, with an additional 10,700 examples on their way to dealers. This gives the Equinox a 24 days supply, meaning that inventory levels are able to sustain 24 days worth of current sales volume. As context, a 60 days supply is considered optimal across the automotive industry.

It’s worth noting that inventory levels are expected to improve moving forward into Q4 2023, as General Motors begins shipping more Equinox units to the U.S.

As context, Equinox inventory levels had been generally decreasing over the course of the 2023 calendar year until July 2023, during which the compact crossover featured an 18 days supply with 7,900 units on dealer lots. Before, June 2023 was the low mark in regard to inventory, with approximately 5,700 units on dealership lots and 6,800 examples en route for a 14 days supply.

It’s worth noting that sales of the Bow Tie compact crossover fell over the course of Q2 2023, reflecting the decreasing days supply figures of the past few months.

Notably, the LSD engine replaced the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine, which developed 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque.

In regard to structure, the Equinox rides on the GM D2 platform, while production of the 2024 model year officially kicked off in May 2023 at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant and the GM San Luis Potosí plant, both of which are located in Mexico.

  1. Yes, but they’re hardly-discounted ’24s, when, this time of year, there should be big discounts on ’23s and hardly any are left.

  2. When will GM begin producing the Equinox EV? I am interested in it to trade in my 2009 Equinox, and I want it electric because I can charge it for free at my home.

    1. Wow, you get free electricity at your house? Can I run a long extension cord?

  3. Before you buy an Equinox be sure you do road test because the suv is very unpleasant to drive because of high amount of road noise caused by tires for whitch the tire co does nothing because the tires are installed by the manufacturer and the company does nothing.

    1. If only you had test drive it before buying you would have known that. They aren’t going to change the tires because of road noise, they all have it. Manufacturers don’t usually put high end tires on. The Rav4 also had more road noise, it still sold in droves. These aren’t luxury vehicles, there will be some added noises that are acceptable at this level versus say a mercedes or bmw…

    2. The Equinox is about the quietest vehicle in its class, what were you expecting? Maybe you should be buying a luxury compact SUV?

    1. We own one, it is very quiet. Far quieter than our 2012 Equinox which has the very noisy 2.4. Also far quieter than the direct competitor Tucson I just rented.
