Chevy Equinox Inventory Still Very Low In June 2023

GM Authority sources close to the matter tell us that inventory levels across the U.S. of the Chevy Equinox remained low in the beginning of June 2023.

There were approximately 5,700 units of the Chevy Equinox on the ground at dealerships as of June 1st, 2023, with an additional 6,800 examples on their way to dealers. This gives the Equinox a 14 days supply, meaning that inventory levels are able to sustain 14 days’ worth of current sales volume. As context, a 60 days supply is considered optimal.

It’s worth noting that this 14 days supply number is similar to May 2023 figures.

For reference, inventory levels of the Bow Tie brand’s midsize crossover have been slowly decreasing since the beginning of the 2023 calendar year. In April 2023, the Equinox had roughly 10,600 units on the ground and 5,900 in transit for a 19 days supply. Before that, March 2023 inventory levels featured 15,000 units on dealership lots and an additional 7,000 units in transit for a 26 days supply. However, those figures are also down from February 2023 inventory levels, where the Equinox had 18,000 units on the ground and 9,000 units in transit for a 36 days supply.

Sales of the Bow Tie brand’s second-most popular offering slightly dropped during the first quarter of 2023 as compared to the same timeframe last year, likely related to the dwindling supply.

As a reminder, the current 2024 Chevy Equinox is offered with one powertrain configuration, the new-for-2023 turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine, rated at 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, and the GM six-speed automatic transmission. The LSD engine replaced the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine, where the previous engine developed 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque.

Under the body panels, the Equinox rides on the GM D2 platform, while production of the 2024 model year officially commenced in May 2023 at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant and the GM San Luis Potosí plant, both of which are located in Mexico.

  6. I would love to see a honest figure for satisfied Equinox customers. Owned the car for 3 months and had to be towed twice, engine issues, excelleration issues, oil pressure issues. Two Dealership could not take my car for 1 – 1.5 weeks. Had to pay for a rental until they had time to look at the car that was towed a week prior. Corp was not willing to help with the addition $3,000.00 that this car cost me in less than 3 months.
I would not recommend Chevrolet or their services and advise to stay away from the dealerships. It will cost you plenty. Corp and the dealership are all aware of the issues and my disappointment.
