The 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing will not be available with four exterior colors that were offered on the performance sedan for the 2022 model year, GM Authority has learned.
The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing will drop the following four paint colors after the 2022 model year (relevant paint codes listed in parentheses):
- Satin Steel Metallic (G9K)
- Shadow Metallic (GJI)
- Infrared Tintcoat (GSK)
- Dark Emerald Frost (G7W)
While four paint colors will be dropped from the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing order books for the 2023 model year, the performance sedan will also add four new exterior hues. These will include the following (all premium paint options available at extra charge):
- Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT)
- Argent Silver Metallic (GXD)
- Midnight Steel Metallic (GXU)
- Maverick Noir Frost (GNW, limited availability)
As GM Authority reported previously, Maverick Noir Frost is the new matte exterior color for the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, replacing the outgoing Dark Emerald Frost. These matte exterior colors are typically quite pricy, with Dark Emerald Frost adding $3,925 to the vehicle’s price tag, and also require some special care when washing the vehicle.
A 120th Anniversary Edition has been added for the second model year of the high-performance sedan. Otherwise, the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing will be mechanically identical to the 2022 model year, featuring the same supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, rated at 668 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 659 pound-feet of torque at 3,600 rpm. Output is routed exclusively to the rear wheels by way of either the standard GM six-speed manual transmission, or the optional GM 10-speed automatic. Production takes place at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Lansing, Michigan.
GM Authority will have more details on the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing once they are officially released by GM. In the meantime, be sure to subscribe to GM Authority for more Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing news, Cadillac Blackwing news, Cadillac news and around-the-clock GM news coverage.

So, let me get this straight. GMC is going to charge me almost 4 grand for a paint job on their Cadillac that has to be treated with kid gloves while being washed? Was this dreamed up by the same moron who thought it would be a great idea during the middle of the 2022 model year to delete the same 4 color options on all their vehicles leaving pretty much only White, Black, and retirement metallic beige as color options?
Damn, and I thought Ford had issues this year… smh.
Don’t hold back Dee tell us how you really feel!
Chapter 2 tomorrow… : )
Ummm, I retired at 59, and since they took Shadow Metallic away I switched to Rift Metallic. Would that be the “Retirement Beige Metallic” you refer to? I might be interested in the Argent Silver, or Midnight Steel metallic colors, but since nobody seems to know what they’ll look like, I’m kinda stuck…
I had a guy at PPG spray a color card of the Midnight Steel, its basically Shadow Gray.
Yeah, I went to the dealership and they showed me their folder of 2023 colors. From the looks of the tiny little color chip I saw, it almost seemed like Midnight Steel was a little bit lighter than Satin Steel with a hint of blue. But again, so hard to tell from an itty bitty rectangle.
