This Is The 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V

General Motors has pulled the sheets on the new 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V, revealing a high-performance variant of the popular luxury SUV. The new Cadillac Escalade-V is equipped with a potent supercharged V8 powertrain and stylish new looks inside and out.

Unfortunately, full details and specs on the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V are still forthcoming, with General Motors stating that more information will be revealed this spring. That said, GM Authority has already accrued a good deal of intel on what the new Escalade-V is bringing to the table.

Let’s start with the exterior, which now presents a more aggressive aesthetic than the rest of the Cadillac Escalade lineup. Standout exterior features include a new front bumper design, which differentiates the Escalade-V from models like the Escalade Sport. The new Escalade-V also rolls on unique wheels, with a multi-spoke design and dark finish. Wrapping the wheels are Bridgestone Aleza A/S tires, likely sized at 275/50R22, the same size as the standard Escalade. In back, we spot unique quad exhaust tips housed in a diffuser-esque rear bumper treatment, while V-Series badging was added to the doors.

Inside, the Escalade-V will have a sporty Escalade-V steering wheel, among other performance cues.

Speaking of performance, the Escalade-V is expected to cradle the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, which is also found in the third-generation Cadillac CTS-V, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, Chevy Camaro ZL1, and C7 Corvette Z06. As GM Authority covered previously, this engine sounds great when motivating the new Escalade-V. Peak output will be at least 640 horsepower.

Harnessing the go will be a 10-speed automatic transmission, while upgraded brakes and Magnetic Ride Control suspension with special tuning will help to keep it all under control.

  1. GM is just teasing us. Now we have to wait until spring.

    1. Why not just a 500hp 6.6 gas engine and 120 mph speed limit. That’s pushing this setup to its limits as it is.

  3. Looks the same as the other Escalades to me.

    1. Definitely need some exterior trim, some hood accents, wents, or a powerdome. I feel the same way to all the v-s right now. I think they should have kept the V-sport trim, have the V’s as what the blackwings are, and then created a proper blackwing trim.

      1. Slightly wider stance would be cool as well, not that these things are already wide. I would have liked to see the LT5 vs the LT4 as well. The extra 100horses would be nice considering the size of this behemoth.

Too much? It’s a Cadillac. They’ll sell every one they can build.

          1. Would you like to put some $ on it?

            Reply
            1. Unfortunately, $165K may not be to far off. The Escalade in AWD Sport Platinum trim starts at $109K. Add a color other than black, and the Brembo brakes and performance exhaust (I’m sure both will be part of the V package), and you’re over $115K. Considering that the CT5 Blackwing’s $35K more than the regular CT5 V, it’s not hard to imagine the Escalade V as being at least $30K more than the average Sport Platinum.

  9. Is tire width really 275? Those things are going to be shredded. I’ve got 285’s on a VWagon with only 556hp and it breaks loose easily. They should be putting at least 305’s on the Vslade.

    1. “… likely sized at 275/50R22, the same size as the standard Escalade.”
      Still all speculation for now.

    2. It’s also AWD and weighs like a ton and a half more than the V wagon. I suspect they go wider than 275, but probably don’t need to.

  10. Price around 160-170k sounds reasonable, but will the Escalade V be able to retain its share of the segment even with European competitors starting at much less (x5m, gls amg, etc.) ? I would say yes.

    Reply
    1. I don’t think so. It’s tough to justify a Caddy over a GLS as it is, let alone an AMG.

I think 125k is a fair price for this. You’re already over SQ7 money, which is going to likely roughly match most stats this puts out other than overall size. You’re at X7 M50i money there, which has more brand cache. You’re undercutting GLS63, which you don’t want to go toe to toe with.

By the time this is actually out though, GM will likely be back to 20% off msrp once supply chain shortages are over.

        1. That I’m on a phone and it decides what’s “close enough”?

Or that I recognize most buyers don’t see Caddy on the same level as the Germans?

  11. Interestingly, the Escalade has the same facial treatment like the Blackwings since this is not a Blackwing model. IMO, why Cadillac waited for not sharing more details for the interior and technology, there will be new and updated features being revealed around Spring.

  13. I’ll wait a couple years and pick one up used for 17K.

    1. Maybe in 18yrs with over 200k you’ll get one at that price

      1. No kidding. People are not getting one for 17 grand any time soon.

  14. Love it. Not a huge fan of the new Escalade, but this is super nice. I think 125k would be a fair starting price, too much more than that and you’re not competing with Germans on price, which GM has to do or they lose.

I have 2 main hopes, that several Durango Hellcat buyers trade in low mile versions for this so I can buy one, and that they make a Tahoe SS. Actually 3 wishes, make the Suburban SS and Escalade ESV V.

  16. Hopefully the same drive train might be available in a Yukon Denali

    Reply
    1. I’ll be surprise if the Yukon Denali don’t have a similar drive train. It does not have to have the same horsepower and torque figures of course.

      Reply
      1. Honestly, I think they should do it to all 3. That said, Yukon Denali makes less sense to me than Tahoe. Tahoe you can do an SS model that’s more sporty than fancy. Yukon Denali Typhoon would compete with the Escalade a lot more, as it tends to be the more luxurious variant that’s not an Escalade.

I doubt it’d steal many sales from escalade V though, so screw it and LT4 them all.

        1. Chevrolet promised us in SS Tahoe years ago that never materialized you’re right I think all three should have the same drivetrain should be the same engine throughout and horsepower ratings

  17. Don’t get excited, if GM’s history is any indication, finally getting the vehicle close to perfect, it will most likely be the last year of production. GM never keeps a vehicle in production once it’s been vastly improved.

    1. This is so true it hurts.

  18. I love GM, I always have. Escalade V should have been there before. Currently I am very excited for this behemoth from hell. It might not be fast, but its still gonna have a boss presence on the road. People like me would buy it for its sound, its loud v8, its road presence, its gangster vibe and much more. CADDY IS CADDY! Cant compare with a GLS. (although Im sure this is faster). Lets make America Great Again!
