When the fourth-generation 2019 Chevy Silverado was announced, we rendered the retro Silverado Cheyenne trim of the full-size pickup truck. Now that the refreshed, 2022 Silverado has been announced, we’ve done the same – but with the updated truck.
Our hypothetical 2022 Silverado 1500 is finished in the LT trim and sports the Cheyenne’s signature white stripe along the body side, contrasting nicely with the candy apple red paint job of the general body. We also highlighted the debossed Chevrolet script in white on the tailgate. We then gave it old-school style steel wheels.
Since the original Cheyenne pickups had metal trim around the white strip, which is something modern trucks just don’t have, we used matching white pinstriping around the edge instead.
Our Silverado Cheyenne renderings give the refreshed 2022 Silverado a very unique look, especially since stripes is a rare sight on modern vehicles, apart from some bold badging and splash graphics that (mostly) adorn special edition models.
Also note the way we integrated the forward-most part of the bodyside stripes with the revamped front end: the stripe culminates in an arrow within the new body-color insert that runs into the C-shaped front lighting signature / Daytime Running Light (DRL).
For background, the Cheyenne trim package was introduced in the C10 in 1971 as Chevy’s equivalent to the GMC Sierra. The Cheyenne Super, however, was the top-of-the-line C10 pickup truck from that era. This came about as a result of the 1967 CST (Custom Sport Truck) trim level being renamed Cheyenne, and Cheyenne Super being added as a fourth trim level above the standard Cheyenne. The Cheyenne Super included woodgrain dashboard trim, full instrumentation, and model-specific interior trim to set it apart from the regular Cheyenne model.
Several Chevy dealers have tried their hands on their own modern Cheyenne interpretations. Blake Greenfield Chevrolet in Minnesota worked up a “Cheyenne Super 10” on a 2014/2015 Silverado while John Elway Chevrolet in Englewood, Colorado, did the same on a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado.
Chevy actually still uses the Cheyenne moniker for its light duty full-size pickup truck in Mexico. There, the Silverado is the name for only the Work Truck, while all Silverado models above it are badged as Cheyenne.

I bought an ’83 short bed GMC in 84 and the first thing I did was repaint it two tone blue but with a different style. Hills hot rods in Lubbock started doing the restyled trucks in 2019 like the ones in the article. I don’t think they went over well at the dealers due to the body flow not matching the flow of the middle design.

Looked like sh*t in the 70’s and still looks like sh*t today.
A Ford dealer was doing this a few years back, many trucks were resprayed back to original paint scheme, very few people bought the clown color schemed trucks.
I agree to a certain extent, simply because of that “wrap-a-round” treatment by the headlights. I much prefer the more simple treatment of my white on blue 1975 K/20 Suburban.

Nope, all new trucks come in any color as long as it’s black, silver or gray. 22” wheels, beds so high you can’t reach in, tailgate gadgets that won’t ever get gummed from much, stone, dirt or brush and a price tag that makes you not want to haul with it anyway.

I guess I’m going to be different and say I like it but I like different my dad had a 73 or 74 Chevy Cheyenne it was a good truck on another note thank you GM for making my Chevy Camaro ordered it mid August showed up at the dealership 27 October it’s a to SS cherry red tin coat got a Lotta good compliments On the color

What the Silverado needs more than paint is a new frontend and taillights, think 2014 dual lights but sleeker
Sadly, they just updated the Silverado for mid-2022, but you can’t really tell.

Just put a few bucks into your 93. Those GMT400 trucks were awesome.
My 1993 dually was two tone and I loved it. My 1998 was green with the Gray on the bottom still beautiful. My 2021 GMC Dually is dark blue but I wished it had color matched bumpers which I could NOT get on the SLT! The two town looks nice on the dark green picture but the red not so much.
There were some OEM 2 tone color schemes that made the truck back in the day, but trying to replicate that with these front fascia’s of today just misses the old days 2 tone, and I agree with most that said it misses the originality of old. Plus using M&S radial tires instead of All Terrain tires reduces the aggressive stance or work stance, JMO.
I am old enough to remember the the 2 tone paint schemes.
Makes the current truck look so much better, but there’s no fixing the hideous, misshapen front end. Needs a complete redesign by talented stylists who don’t hate Chevrolet like the current designers seem to. And just imagine good looking wheels. That’s almost just a fantasy now. As if the corporate edict is: all modern wheels must be horrible to match the horrible front end styling.
We’re seen much better days alright. Across the board.

It would be nice if they could make it an option. I think it makes the truck look nice. The solid color look gets old after a while, especially the all black. No personality at all. Not everyone needs to look like they belong to secret service or black ops
Haha they aren’t all mercenaries? Two tone even made it to the Japanese trucks. I had a real nice Toyota T-100 xtra cab v6 4×4. Was green over gray. 2” lift with 32” BFG AT, American racing Baja Wheels, 2” bushwhacker flares. Slim pickings for that truck in general and this was in the late 90s 00s not the internet era like now.
The Chevrolet Cheyenne would work better as a 2 door mid level truck.
Imagine the reintroduction of a REAL pickup – a 2 door Cheyenne with 6 foot box and bench seat upholstered in something with actual style like plaid or houndstooth. A pickup beautifully sculpted like the classic 1960-87 pickups that real people could afford versus these gigantic, ugly $50K+ megacab monsters on sale today competing for the largest touchscreen/most massive center console/most horrid 22″ wheels honors. Bring a traditional pickup with 6.2 and Duramax 3.0 options and a standard 6MT. Body styling that’s welcoming to actual humans and colors, including two-tones, not strictly tailored to the tastes of The Terminator. We can only dream.

I used to be a fan of the two tone along the rockers and around the wheel openings. I would be inclined to order a truck that way if it was available.
Ford still does that, where you can get a really subtle different color for the rocker panels. It actually looks half decent. It looks like Chevy just prefers different pinstripe options.
