Dealership Creates Modern Chevrolet C10 Pickup From Silverado

Chalk this up to the really freaking cool board. Blake Greenfield Chevrolet in Minnesota published photos of a custom Chevrolet Silverado it undertook, and it channels its inner C10. In fact, it’s a modern-day interpretation of the classic pickup.

The Silverado wears a dark green exterior hue with white and gold graphics recalling the C10’s golden years. At the rear, the tailgate spells out “Chevrolet” with no bowtie badge to be found. It’s retro done right, and coincidentally, comes as Chevy celebrates its truck centennial.

We know the Silverado’s squared-off wheel arches have been a debatable topic for some time, but they actually look right at home in this application. The graphics accentuate them in all the right ways, and the small white wheels are doing the truck a lot of favors. It’s a pretty incredible package. Finally, some “Cheyenne Super 10” badges adorn the truck for just a splash of extra vintage love. And we think a heritage bowtie would look right at home to complete the look.

The Facebook post notes the overwhelming response to the custom truck, and it sounds like this was a one-off ordeal. However, since the reaction has become a tidal wave, the dealership is now taking orders to customize other Silverados. We have a feeling the dealership will be pretty busy in the near future.

  1. Looks better than the heritage truck GM did.

I’d take that in single cab, short box, 6.2, 2wd, LSD, and do the roof white too. With the tan+brown leather interior with subtle green trim pieces. An LCD gage cluster but with a retro theme would be perfect – were the speedos horizontal back in the 70s C10s?

Then I’d do exhaust, headers, intake, and like all EcoTec3 engines they need a tune to really wake up.

    1. C10s in the 70’s were round gauges.

  2. Maybe I’m the minority, but it’s awful looking.
    Very amateurish.

    1. Yup, you’re definitely in the minority. That said, there is a nugget of truth to your comment. A closer inspection shows the borders around the white to have a slight impression, particularly over the front wheel and under the taillight. A much better version was presented by Mallett at SEMA 2014 (see website http://gmauthority.com/blog/2014/11/is-this-retro-style-kooks-2014-silverado-the-coolest-pickup-at-sema/). In that case, he went above the door handles and down to the rocker panel. I think it still pays pretty good homage to the original. Mallett also does a better job of the body side moldings and tailgate treatment, but ditched the step bumper (I think that was a mistake; GM would have fitted it with the bumper). But speaking of amateur hour, I am not thrilled with how Mallett finished the upper molding at the taillights. It lacks design excellence, and would have been more finished-looking from the factory. On the positives, I like Greenfield’s treatment of the wheels and rubber, as they are true to the design era. I also like that Greenfield attached the Cheyenne Super 10 badge. I cannot comment on the interior (as no images of it are posted), but Mallett carries the retro design into the interior, so I really appreciate that. Both are good mods.

But all of that is beside the point. Greenfield was going for the nostalgia and the sentiment, and for that it is beautiful in every aspect.

  4. Wouldn’t it be considered a K10? c10 would technically be a 2wd variant of I’m not mistaken.

  5. Why can’t GM build throwback trucks like this????

    1. GM has no imagination, with both trucks and cars.

  6. That is so cool! I would buy one. The only thing missing is the aluminum band wrapping around the rear of the cab from the back door to back door, and the little red bow tie right there on the door. That would make it a complete package.

  7. I love it! I wished that Chevrolet would, if not bring back the C10 line, have a C10 trim option. The Silverado is so ubiquitous now that it’s become rather boring. Give us something to get excited about.

  8. The proportions are wrong. The white needs to go up higher. The taller side on the new trucks require a wider band.

    Also green?

Do the classic blue and white, red and white or silver and burgundy.

Better yet how About a red top and white or gray rocker like on the 67-72

    1. I thought the same thing at first, but the White can’t go up any higher, the middle color never went into the door handles

  10. Great looking truck. Wished new trucks had style and individuality like this. New trucks now are so dull.

  11. Hey GM, screw your fancy (money grab) centinnial edition. This is what a “heritage” edition is supposed to be. Exchange the modern seats for the old burlap material in this truck and call it done.
