Dealer Creates Modern Silverado Cheyenne From K2 Silverado

The outgoing generation of Chevrolet trucks never saw a revival of the endeared Cheyenne nameplate. Nor was it ever treated with two-tone throwback looks. Yet that hasn’t stopped some Chevrolet dealers from responding to demand by outfitting a Silverado or two with a retro-inspired package.

John Elway Chevrolet in Englewood, Colorado has created this Cheyenne-inspired package for the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. The exterior features a unique paint job, Cheyenne Super 10 badging, a Chevrolet-branded tailgate, old-school wheels, and BF Goodrich All Terrain tires.

The 2018 Silverado pictured is of a Custom trim level, but it’s easy to imagine the livery on any other kind of Silverado trim, such as LTZ or High Country.

This is the second time we’ve seen a throw-back Cheyenne/C10 package created by a dealer, with the first one being the Chevrolet Cheyenne Super 10 from Blake Greenfield Chevy in Minnesota. We’re not sure if Chevrolet plans on offering a throwback livery on the all-new 2019 Silverado from the factory just yet, but we don’t see a downside to doing so.

  1. i think the white needs to go up more by the crease of the fender or above the tail lights

  2. Nope, it doesn’t work anymore. It worked perfectly back on the old C/K’s form the 80’s, but it’s time to put it to rest.

    1. I for one like it. Looks unique and classy… not gaudy like some other aftermarket treatments. But hey, to each his own.

I’m sure there will be more than a handful of customers who would want this.

  3. I dislike this one. The storm trooper front end and goofy hood that the SIlverado’s have since the refresh look all wrong with the two tone.

The green and white one shown awhile back however was dead on awesome…. With the classic looking 2014/15 front end and a normal hood it just looked perfect!

    1. I see it now. What’s missing on the red one that the green truck had is a chrome grill to give it contrast. Body matching the grill seems a bit much.

  4. I have nothing against two tone but this just does not translate well to the new body lines.

If you want two tone do it but fit it to the body.

Sometimes you just can’t go home.

To be honest on a red truck some Heavy Chevy stripes from a 72 Chevelle reshaped to fit this truck would be of interest.

This paint needs to go up to be in proportion but you can do it.

Nice idea just two things that do not mix well.

I would be up more for a cab roof rocker one color and the body another.

Black and red. Yellow and black something more modern in color.

  5. Not too bad, the other one (green and white truck) was better executed. Some may not realize GM offered this type of paint scheme until the late 90’s. I believe it was RPO ZY4 for GM trucks and SUV’s.

  6. This looks terrible! Two tone paint jobs are a thing of the past! If a customer wants a paint job like this then take out your wallet and have it done just don’t expect the factory to offer it!

  7. Some may like it . Some may not like it. GM doesn’t do retro, only evolutionary designs. Whoops forgot those Camero tail lights.

  8. It looked great on the green pre-refresh K2. This one it doesn’t work as well because of the body colored bumper. But the concept is awesome and I think they should keep working on it.
And don’t forget the WHEELS and TIRES. These are just fantastic looking. Functional, no BS. Old school.
I hate all the huge black wheels with lower profile 35s on them. It just looks so awful but try telling that to a 25 year old who wants his truck to look like a lifted tank.

  9. 6 1/2 year old article, notwithstanding, the tailgate that was pinstriped to make it appear to be recessed just looks hokey. And the simulated chrome trim paint separating the two tone paint isn’t much better.
