GM Canada sales increased 34 percent to 66,911 units during the second quarter of 2021. Sales increased in all four GM brands sold in Canada, including Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC.
Strong double-digit increases at each of the company’s four brands drove the results, with the performance coming in spite of supply constraints caused by the global semiconductor shortage.
“GM Canada second quarter sales exceeded expectations thanks to continued strong customer demand for our portfolio of EVs, utility vehicles, and pickups,” said Vice President, Sales, Service and Marketing at GM Canada, Sandor Piszar, in a statement. “Our team delivered outstanding results despite industry-wide inventory challenges. We’re building every vehicle we can, and our dealers are selling virtually every vehicle they receive – often the minute they hit the lot,” he added.
Once again GM Canada’s strong sales performance was underpinned by outstanding performance in full-size pickup trucks. GM’s full-size truck franchise continues to post gains as the country begins to recover from the pandemic. In fact, GMC Sierra sales grew 26 percent while Chev Silverado deliveries improved 29 percent.

Comments
Finally, taking care of us up here in the boons. Now, about those reg. cab short box Silvi and G.M.C. production dates with the 6.2 option?
Not sure how they can be selling so many vehicles when there is a problem with getting computer chips! I’ve been wanting to look into purchasing a new Silverado 5.3 because I pull a heavy trailer but was told I’m gonna have to wait… a long time. The turbo versions are nice but not enough power for me.
Sales up, deliveries down? I order a RST 6.2 January 15, still waiting!
