The GM Authority Take

We attribute the decline in Buick Encore sales volume during Q1 2021 to a planned change in corporate strategy, as GM increases production of the new Buick Encore GX at the expense of the older Encore. While the Encore lost 8,009 units in Q1 2021 compared to Q1 2020, the Encore GX gained 15,834 units.

The Buick Encore GX complements the "regular" Encore in the Buick crossover lineup.

The Buick Encore GX complements the “regular” Encore in the Buick crossover lineup.

We expect the Encore and Encore GX to perform extremely well in this space, given no disruptions in production and associated supply.

  1. maybe time to retire it. Buick is improving their image with the Encore GX, new Envision and the upcoming refreshed Enclave and Envision GX. The old Encore looks dated.
