2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV Featured In New ‘Magic Is Electric’ Ad: Video

The new General Motors Magic Is Electric ad for the upcoming 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV shows several features of the all-electric crossover that have previously been shown in teasers or otherwise revealed to the public.

The theme of the ad is a journey to Walt Disney World undertaken by several groups of people, each in their own Bolt EUV. A young family (including an adorable daughter dressed as a fairy) appears at home at the beginning and at Walt Disney World at the end – at night time in both cases, oddly. They provide the emotional center of the ad, ensuring that viewers will enjoy it without, at this point, receiving any information from it.

That changes when the second group appears. In this sequence, which was teased in a post on the Chevy Instagram page, three friends are joined by hitchhiking ghosts from Disney’s Haunted Mansion ride. We are now more aware of the extra rear legroom in the Bolt EUV compared with the Bolt EV (there is an adult in the back seat rather than two children, as before), and of the available Rear Camera Mirror, which in Chevrolet‘s words provides “a wide and less obstructed view behind the vehicle while you’re driving.”

Next, an older family is driving through open countryside. The daughter is playing with a model of an X-wing starfighter when, by a strange coincidence, the real thing draws alongside, as if challenging the Bolt EUV to a race. The mother meets the challenge easily by engaging Sport Mode, though we suspect that in a real-life situation, the X-wing would still win.

Sport Mode is available on the Bolt EUV as well as in the slightly smaller Chevy Bolt EV. However, two features that appear in the penultimate sequence are exclusive to the Bolt EUV: the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assistance system (which in this case allows the front-seat occupants to share a bag of chips) and the panoramic sunroof.

Before the final shot of the daughter from the first sequence, both the Bolt EV and the Bolt EUV are shown. Overlaid on the image is a caption revealing that the Bolt EV is priced to start at $31,995 the the Bolt EUV at $33,995, destination freight charges included.

The all-new Bolt EUV is scheduled to launch this summer, at around the same time as the refreshed Bolt EV.
