2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV
The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV represents the first model year ever for the Bolt EUV, a fresh battery-powered electric utility vehicle (EUV) that extends the Bolt line with a focus on practicality and cargo space. The new model is set to make its official debut on February 14th, alongside 2022 Bolt EV the automaker has confirmed, and enter production in the summer of 2021. Chevrolet has also revealed that it has teamed up with Walt Disney World to promote the next month’s unveiling of the new electric vehicles, which will go on sale this summer. Most recently, The Bow Tie brand shared a teaser of the upcoming Bolt EV refresh and Bolt EUV.

Positioning
The Chevy Bolt EV battery-electric car/crossover is currently The Bow Tie brand’s only fully-electric offering, however, the 2022 model year sees the addition of the larger Bolt EUV to the lineup, which slots above the Bolt EV. Both models will ride on the GM BEV2 platform, and are expected to feature the same electric drive motor as well.
Exterior
The exterior styling of the Bolt EUV is similar, though not identical, to the smaller Bolt EV. Primary differences include spacing between the headlights and tail lights, a larger “grille” and a restyling of the rear fascia, making it more bulbous than the more compact Bolt EV.
Interior & In-Vehicle Technology
The all-new Bolt EUV features new instrument panels and vehicle controls, with a 10.2-inch-diagonal infotainment color touchscreen and integrated climate controls for clean, intuitive interfaces. The infotainment screen features real-time displays with more details available on the 8-inch-diagonal reconfigurable color gauge cluster.
There’s also a new, electronic gear shift design that uses pull toggles and push buttons to free up more interior space. For increased regenerative braking, there’s even a new one-pedal driving button that keeps the system active between drive cycles.
The new interior also includes revised seats along with a sporty, flat-bottom steering wheel, which, incorporates the Regen on Demand paddle and a black Chevy “bowtie” emblem. Additionally, the redesigned seats feature a triangular geometric pattern and contrasting color stitching, premium design that gives a consistent and upscale atmosphere, while also complementing the new instrument panel and steering wheel designs.
In terms of connectivity, the 2022 Bolt EV also includes new wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phone projection capability, as well as wireless phone charging, which is standard on Bolt EUV, and an available 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot.
Additionally, new In-Vehicle Apps allow users to browse a list of available apps – such as Alexa, Spotify, The Weather Channel and many more – and install them on the infotainment system. With Alexa, drivers can use simple voice commands, while keeping their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel. Alexa can play music, get directions, place calls, listen to audiobooks, control your smart home, access tens of thousands of Alexa skills and more. Drivers can just ask aloud, and Alexa will respond.
Safety
Chevy has also confirmed that the all-new Bolt EUV will be available with the automaker’s hands-free Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving assistant. The technology has so far only been offered on Cadillac vehicles, but GM plans to slowly expand its availability in the coming years, with plans to offer it on 22 different vehicles before the end of 2023.
To elaborate, Super Cruise employs many advanced technology features, including a Driver Attention System and precision LiDAR map data. The Driver Attention System uses a small camera located on the top of the steering column and works with infrared lights to determine where the driver is looking whenever Super Cruise is in operation.
If the Driver Attention System detects the driver’s gaze has turned away from the road ahead for too long, the steering wheel light bar will prompt the driver to return their attention to the road. If the system determines continued inattentiveness, it will use visible and audible alerts to notify the driver to take back control of the wheel. Super Cruise is available on Bolt EUV Premier.
The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV also features an array of other standard passive and active safety features, and offers customers the option to add in even more available technologies.
For instance, Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes safety and advanced driver assistance technologies, such as:
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Forward Collision Alert
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- Following Distance Indicator
- IntelliBeam
- Front Pedestrian Braking
- HD Rear Vision Camera
Available driver assistance technologies include:
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- HD Surround Vision
- Adaptive Cruise Control
Powertrain & Range
GM estimates a range of 250 miles – or 402 kilometers – per full charge of the Bolt EUV’s 288-cell battery, which is identical to that of the smaller Bolt EV.
Suspension
Mechanically speaking, the 2022 Bolt EUV is expected to be share most of its components with the smaller Bolt EV. That said, the precise differences in suspension geometry and calibration have yet to be confirmed.
Availability
Bolt EUV market availability is expected to continue for the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and South Korea.
Pricing for the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV in the U.S. market starts at $33,995, including destination. Availability will open during the summer of 2021.
