General Motors has issued a Customer Satisfaction Program detailing the repair procedures to be applied to certain 2024 Chevy Equinox units that may have an out-of-spec torque converter spring retainer.
The fix should be applied to 2024 Chevy Equinox crossovers brought to the dealership by customers as well as vehicles currently in inventory, per Customer Satisfaction Program number N242444550.
Only a small number of 2024 Chevy Equinox units are affected by the noted condition, so dealership service personnel should check the GM Global Warranty Management system before starting work. Affected vehicles are marked “Open” on the Investigate Vehicle History screen. Following this, the torque converter spring retainer should be inspected.
If the spring retainer is out of specification, the service workers should replace either the torque converter or the entire transmission of the affected Chevy Equinox unit as necessary. This requires a torque converter, a transmission, and a wide assortment of gaskets, seals, bolts, clips, and other fasteners and components to complete.
The remedy for this problem is available to 2024 Chevy Equinox owners free of charge through October 31st, 2026. Repairs are to be completed promptly. However, since torque converters and transmissions for the Equinox are in limited supply, and the number of affected vehicles is small, these components should be ordered only as needed and not kept as shelf stock at the dealership.
As a reminder, the 2024 Equinox cradles a single engine choice under the hood, the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine developing 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. The 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine debuted for the 2023 model year to replace the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine. The GM six-speed automatic transmission handle cog swaps, while the crossover can be equipped with either FWD or AWD.
For structure under the sheet metal, the Equinox utilizes the GM D2 platform. Production of the third-generation Equinox’s last model year concluded at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant and at the GM San Luis Potosà plant, both located in Mexico.
The 2025 Chevy Equinox is set to usher in the first model year for the fourth generation of the popular Bow Tie crossover.

Great way to send the successful former generation off.
