Wearing one of the rarest, most exotic, and extravagantly eye-catching body kits ever to appear on a Bow Tie brand vehicle, a 2008 Chevy Corvette Valarra Coupe is about to hit the auction block in Indianapolis, with an actual bidding date of Wednesday, May 15th, 2024.
This ultra-rare Valarra Corvette rebody has 77,000 miles on the odometer. It is listed by Mecum Auction among 3,000 other vehicles set to be auctioned off between May 10th and May 18th during the 37th Original Spring Classic.
As GM Authority has previously detailed, the Valarra Corvette is a spectacularly sculpted plastic and carbon fiber body kit for the sixth-gen Chevy Corvette that gives it one of the most powerful and aggressive looks available. Produced by Mattao Concepts in Florida, the kit also includes extra-wide Pirelli P Zero Nero tires, interior bits, and – at least for some builds – twin turbochargers to ensure there’s plenty of hard-charging prowess under the hood.
The example soon to be auctioned off by Mecum stands out by featuring a unique removable roof section made of glass. The exterior sports a gleaming coat of BMW Hockenheim Silver paint, while the cockpit is outfitted with dual power seats, head-up display, dual-zone air conditioning, and other convenience features.
While twin turbochargers are supposed to be a feature of the Valarra Corvette, this 2008 model seems to have been built with a stock naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LS3 gasoline engine developing 430 horsepower and 5900 rpm and 424 pound-feet of torque at 4600 rpm. Braking is achieved using a Z51 package with drilled rotors. The Vette rides on non-standard Ferrada wheels with 20-inch rollers in front and 22-inch at the rear.
Only a handful of fully built Valarra Corvette cars are currently out in the wild, and often get unique treatments. We looked at one back in summer 2022 with an intriguingly alien-looking green and black custom wrap from Metro Wrapz. Another Valarra won the Houston part of the Hot Wheels Legends Tour in September 2021, proving the rebody keeps its sports car vigor in additional to showing off its unusual looks.

Ugly rear end. That’’s what I think, since you asked.
On the rear end exterior, -or lack thereof:
Yeah, that’s the first thing that came to my mind. Why so much detail on aesthetics on the whole thing, except for the unfinished rear? -Lose interest or run out of money?…
I think I’ll keep my stock C6 Grand Sport !!!
Sometimes less is more. This is a perfect example. Just because you can do bodywork doesn’t mean you’re a designer. Terrible.
IMHO, the general profile and body lines are not too much different than the C7. It’s busier, but the look is there. The interior looks to be bone stock. Agree about the rear. I guess the committee couldn’t come to a decision, so they just quit. That is going to be one rock throwing deal. I think I’ll keep the C7 I’ve got.
Looks great until you come to the rear end, what happened? Did they run out of money or time to complete it? And it’s only got a stock 6.2, not even the 7.0 Z06 engine. At least change out the steering wheel and seats to give it a semi custom look.
Looks great, until you open your eyes.
I really like the front end, and the bodyside styling. But, I agree with everyone else that the rear end is hideous. Same level of “rear end ugly” as the 2017 & up Ford GT.
I’m not a fan of the open “wheel well” at the front either. Everything you run over on the road gets thrown right back against the side of the car. And as stated so well by so many others, the back is straight up ugly!
Rear end looks unfinished. To busy! Wheel wells front and rear look terrible.
How is this legal without a rear bumper?
Beautiful car but agree with the majority here… I think the rear takes away from the looks. Less is not more here.
