Chicago Auto Sports, a dealership in Franklin Park, Illinois, specializing in performance cars, luxury vehicles, and exotics, has an interesting oddity in its inventory. It’s the most desirable spec of a Saturn Ion, a 2007 Ion Red Line Quad Coupe with a manual transmission.
2007 was the final model year for the Saturn Ion, and this example only has 23,030 miles on the odometer. It also has a clean Carfax history report with no accidents in its past. It’s loaded with options like the Red Line Competition Package (limited-slip differential, 17-inch aluminum wheels, boost gauge), a 6-disc CD changer, the Saturn Advanced Audio System, a power sunroof, side curtain airbags, and front/rear carpeted floor mats. It adds up to what is possibly the coolest Saturn with four doors.
Speaking of doors, the Quad Coupe design looked like a coupe but had small rear clamshell doors, making getting in and out of the two back seats a little easier. Most Ion models were sedans, but the Red Line trim was only available with the Quad Coupe body.
According to the passionate Saturn enthusiasts at RedLine Forums, 2007 was the lowest production year for the Ion Red Line. 554 were built, 337 had the Competition Package, and 173 were finished in Black Onyx, like the example you see here.
The Saturn Ion was underpinned by the first iteration of GM’s Delta platform, which was shared with the Chevy Cobalt and HHR. The Red Line model shared a supercharged powertrain with the Chevy Cobalt SS, specifically the 2.0L LSJ I4. In fact, this powertrain was available in the Ion one model year earlier than the Cobalt SS Supercharged Edition. It was rated at 205 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque in a car that weighs a little less than 3,000 pounds.
This 2007 Saturn Ion Red Line is listed with an asking price of $19,800. That’s an ambitious asking price for any Saturn Ion, but to the right enthusiast with specific tastes, it could be a fair price for such a rarity in this kind of condition.

$20K?! A fool and his money are easily parted.
And yet there are people dumping more on rusted out square bodies. This is a special car, just like the 57 Chevy, the blandest car on the market in its day, now the jewel of car shows. Old is new and new is old. To a collector, this might be a steal.
$20k is literally what these things cost back in 2007, in 2007 dollars.
That means that whatever “collector” held onto it for this long wasted a lot of money on it. I suppose another “collector” will come along and waste even more though, eventually.
They didn’t discount. I bought an Oldsmobile.
To each his on. This car may last another 20 years. A bargain compared to what they are selling now. May the best man or woman get themselves a 2007 SATURN! Kenny Nash CEO A BIG EVENT ENTERTAINMENT and my song dedicated to this is “Store Bought Values” 💖 Kenny Nash
This car was for sale at a dealer for less than this for a long time and did not sell. This dealer now has jacked up the price after getting it for about $6K at a dealer auction. It’ll sit here too. Especially at that price. It would go well with my 19K mile 04, but not at $20K
