The 2025 Cadillac XT5 is poised to launch an all-new second generation for the crossover nameplate, which, at present, is expected to be offered exclusively for the Chinese market. That said, GM Authority recently reported that the first-generation XT5 would live on for at least one more model year here in North America. Now, GM Authority has learned when the North American-spec 2025 Cadillac XT5 will begin production.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the North American-spec 2025 Cadillac XT5 is currently scheduled to begin production on July 8th, 2024. To note, this date may change in the future. As was the case previously, production for the North American market will once again take place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.
Per previous GM Authority coverage, the current Cadillac XT5 will be replaced by an all-new second-generation model in the Chinese market. As such, it was previously unclear if the XT5 nameplate would live past the 2024 model year here in North America, as the current first-gen model is now at the end of its lifecycle. However, GM Authority later learned that GM would offer a 2025 Cadillac XT5 in North America that, for the moment at least, will be a continuation of the current, first-generation crossover.
As a reminder, the first-gen Cadillac XT5 offers two engine options, specifically the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. The GM C1 platform provides the underpinnings.
Meanwhile, the second-gen Cadillac XT5, currently expected to be a Chinese-market exclusive, is set to introduce new styling and an overhauled cabin, as outlined in a series of leaks and spy photos. Production of the Chinese-market XT5 takes place at the SAIC-GM Jinqiao Cadillac plant in Shanghai.

Another reason to pass on the N.A. version of the XT5. So, the Chinese get an all-new 2nd generation model while the U.S. gets the old outdated version. Kudos gm.
I was hoping for a mild refresh to replace my 2020 XT5 which is a great vehicle. That glimmer of hope for a 2025 is quickly fading.
So GM will offer the upgraded version of 2025 XT5 model only in China. American XT5 buyers will have two choices: Either move to China, or buy the old/stale version of it, pretending to be 2025 model, here in USA. It looks like CCP is already in firm control of Cadillac management.
WOW ,I thought Buick was DOOMED Now Cadillac too.Good Job GM shrinking your loyal buyers just like your Engines.Making it easier to find a new brand for consumers who are on the fence. It’s only gonna get worse.Hope GM doesn’t expect another BAIL OUT…..
If I was asked how GM could further ruin its reputation any further, I would of said I don’t need too. GM is doing it all by itself without any input from me.
They are trying to push the Lyric EV to you rich Cadillac owners. XT5 is going goodbye.
Bought 2023 XT5 and love it.
Would I go to EV no not in canada. Not enough plug in stations up north.
If GM takes the XT5 off the market then it’s bye for me.
This is my 3rd caddy and love them.
I have been a loyal GM customer all my life and a Cadillac customer since 2009, I will not be buying any other GM products because they are consorting with our arch enemy! CCP plans to take over the USA! I do not want to contribute to any company that is aiding and abetting our enemy! I will also be selling my GM stock!
Screw Cadillac. Kill the XT5 and that’s the end for me. Will go back to Lexus.
After 14 years of Mercedes ownership, I purchased a 2024 XT5 luxury/premium. Aside of being sorely lacking in convenience niceties, & absolutely Neanderthal(ic) in performance compared to the MB V-6/4Matic, it is a very sharp looker in Midnight Sky, & handles (almost) as well as the ML350 with the active suspension.
It was promising that GM would see the error of their ways, & to learn that they MIGHT continue the model, but if only another mirror image, I will likely go back to the Mercedes next year. Though $20K more in price, the engineering quality alone is worth it.
I’ve been ready to trade my XTS for the new second generation XT5 and I’ve been waiting two year. Sadly, to learn I have another year to wait. Poor management, they to do away with the NewYork office
If CEO Mary wasn’t so far up Biden’s pooper with with regard to EV’s we would probably get the revised model, but no, she and Joe want to force us to buy that EV junk. Too many people say, no thanks but Mary doesn’t care what we say. This will be the demise of Cadillac. All electric Cadillac cars means Cadillac will not survive as we know it. We want the choice
I really do believe there is room in the USA for both gas powered and Electric vehicles. Cadillac is being really stupid. They are alienating so many of their customers who just do not want an EV. Personally, my driving habits do not support an EV that gets 300 miles on a full charge under PERFECT CONDITIONS! I’m certainly not alone in saying this. Other car makers will continue to offer both ICE and EV models that are UPDATED and REFRESHED. Cadillac just continues to offer the same outdate model year after year. Who the heck is in charge making theses asinine decisions……
Who is in charge? CCP is in charge, of course!
Just waiting for the announcement that the 2025 will only be available with the four cylinder engine…
I agree with you. Just stupid on the part of Cadillac
I’m due for a new vehicle in 2025. If Cadillac would offer the “Updated Chinese Version” of the XT5 in North America, that’s what I would buy. My wife has a 2022 Premium Luxury XT5 with the V6. Seriously, the vehicle was in need of a Tech/Interior refresh in 2022. I just can’t believe Cadillac will just carry-over the current XT5 so we get the outdated model here again in 2025. DUMB, DUMB, DUMB…..When will the Cadillac Executives learn that not all American car buyers want an electric vehicle. I may look at the refreshed 2025 CT5, but my concern is Cadillac will kill that model also because its gas powered and it will lose its value very quickly. I’d like to buy American and I’m a big Cadillac fan but something tells me I will be looking at Audi’s, BMW’s, Lexus or Genesis because they are not DUMB like Cadillac and will offer updated gas powered models.
I predict Cadillac will announce updated versions of both the XT5 and XT6 for North America not built in China. Like offering PHEVs, GM will eventually cave.
I’m not buying a rerun. If Cadillac insists on promoting on EV’s in the US, I’m opting for the new Lincoln Nautilus.
Essentially the 2025 XT5 started production in 2016. Not much different since then. At this point, I think Cadillac’s target market for this product are antiquers.
It’s really unbelievable that Cadillac is considering offering the old XT5 in North America while communist China gets the beautiful new model. The images are online and the exterior looks stunning. If this is the case, screw Cadillac and it’s misguided push towards vehicles that nobody wants.
Very disappointing that GM is only giving the US the old version. I would have bought the new version, but now will buy the RX350.
I was planning on getting another xt5 as soon as it reached the dealership. Now I feel so disappointed with the news that the second generation xt5 will only be available in China. Cadillac has now lost a sell from this decision they have made
I think Cadillac should pay attention to all of these comments, sounds like they are going to lose a lot of return customers. I am one, purchased Cadillacs for the last twenty or so years. I have a 2020 XT5 now, wanted to replace it last year. When getting a new car you want some changes ,so you feel and see the difference . Cadillac you should pay attention.
Well, I was looking to buy a 2024 but then saw the info on the new 2025. I was going to wait for the update but that’s not happening so I to may be looking at the newer Lincoln Nautilus.
Cadillac you are doomed, you do not listen to the Cadillac customers. The XT5 refresh is not worth it, hardly any changes, I’m taking my business elsewhere.
Correct all the way around
That’s too bad they won’t offer the USA ( where they were born) the updated version of the XT5. I was going to buy it but now will go to Lexus RX350. Good Bye forever!!!
