About GMC Savana
The 2023 GMC Savana represents the 20th model year of the nameplate. For the 2023 model year, the Savana and the Chevy Express, its corporate twin, continued with minimal changes, although both dropped the optional 2.8L I4 LWN turbo-diesel Duramax engine.
The 2024 GMC Savana arrives with two new transmissions being the only changes for the Passenger Van, Cargo Van and Cutaway configurations. However, the 2024 GMC Savana cargo van drops the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, with the atmospheric 4.3L V6 LV1 gasoline engine the only remaining powerplant offered on that model. Additionally, 2024 GMC Savana infotainment system upgrades are no longer available, leaving the 2024 Savana with only a single infotainment option, namely the base audio system consisting of the AM/FM stereo with MP3 player. That system includes an auxiliary jack and two front-door speakers.
Pricing for the 2024 GMC Savana shows significant increases, ranging from $1,600 to $2,900 (including cargo, passenger, and cutaway models). The destination freight charge also increases by $100 to $1,875.
While the Savana and Express were thought to be discontinued after the 2025 model year, GM now plans to redesign the Chevy Express for the 2027 model year, keeping the ICE powertrain.
The online configurator is live for the 2024 Savana and still live for the 2023 Savana.

I’m not buying another GM vehicle (Ive been through four in my life) until the Savanna with the 2.8 diesel returns……….D/C that was STUPID!
2.8 won’t be back as GM doesn’t own the European brands that made the engine anymore
I wouldn’t bother with the 2.8L since the more powerful 3.0L diesel would almost certainly fit under hood. But the de-tuned 6.6L Duramax found in the Silverado 5500 and 6500 commercial trucks might be a better fit for cutaway models.
They’ve put the 6.6L Duramax, 6.5L Detroit Diesel, 7.4L 454ci V8, and the massive 8.1L 496 ci V8 in past versions of this van exact same body style and engine compartment. Those latter two V8s were big block motors. There’s more room there than you’d think. I’d be shocked if they couldn’t fit the 3.0L I-6 Duramax.
This van needs to be offered with the 2.7L I-4 Turbomax and 6.6L Gas V8. Then Cutaways with either the 6.6L Gas or 6.6L Duramax Turbodiesel. All with 10 speeds. And the vans need to have an optional high roof model somehow.
Either that or they need to chase the Transit/Sprinter completely with a new, scalable model that can spawn a wide variety of vans and cutaways. That sounds expensive to me, but the life cycle of these vans seem to be measured in decades – even the updates to the Sprinter and Transit don’t really touch most of the bodywork. Having the same body style for 15-20 years seems to actually be a selling point for upfitters. So maybe they should take the Bright Drop body and somehow offer an ICE van and ICE cutaway model to offer – that way upfitters and fleets can rely on either one as their needs evolve.
What?!? No discount offers last month? Thanks for this late breaking news. Idiots!!!!
It’s time for GM to update there passenger vans not to wait till 2027 where the rest are way ahead it’s In embarrassing
Where is the update for this thing?
