The 2023 GMC Canyon equipped with the MultiStow Tailgate integrated storage compartment now has a new accessory available, a tailgate organizer that enables breaking up the MultiStow space into multiple sections using dividers and cargo nets.
Built-in slots and screw holes inside the MultiStow compartment of the 2023 GMC Canyon enable setting up the organizer in different arrangements depending on the small items being stored.
The tailgate organizer kit includes a pair of dividers and two compact cargo nets, along with the fixtures needed to attach the nets, which consist of eight D-rings and screws. The organizer is compatible with the factory-equipped MultiStow Tailgate on the 2023 GMC Canyon and is currently priced at $95.
One or both cargo nets can be used inside the compartment by attaching the mounting D-rings, one for each corner of the net, to the holes in the MultiStow tailgate with the included screws. The storage space also includes four molded-in slots enabling positioning of the two dividers in several different configurations.
The 2023 GMC Canyon tailgate organizer can be used to keep small items separate and easily available, including small tools, gloves, tie-down straps, flashlights, and similarly compact items.
The Kicker audio system, if present and installed, limits use of the tailgate organizer kit inside the 2023 GMC Canyon MultiStow tailgate but does not completely prevent it. The Kicker accepts inputs via Bluetooth connection, 3.5mm and USB connectors, and streams music or other audio directly from compatible devices, independent of the factory audio system. The weatherproof unit and its four-inch weatherproof speakers attaches in the MultiStow compartment.
With the Kicker installed, the cargo nets can no longer be used since the sound system covers up their D-ring attachment points. The two dividers can still be used, but can only be slotted into the two outermost grooves, with those nearer the center unavailable.
As a reminder, the MultiStow Tailgate houses a storage compartment 45 inches wide and four inches deep. This compartment is covered by a lockable lid and is only accessible when the tailgate is lowered. The watertight compartment is drainable, while the tailgate itself has a ruler molded into its edge, graduated in inches.
The MultiStow tailgate is an optional feature on the Elevation trim of the 2023 GMC Canyon, and is equipped as standard on the AT4, AT4X and Denali trim levels.
For motivation, the 2023 GMC Canyon is offered with only available powerplant, the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine. Only available in the High Output tune, this powerplant provides output of 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. RWD is standard on the base Elevation trim level, while 4WD is available on the Elevation and standard on AT4, AT4X and Denali trims.
An updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform provides the bones for the 2023 Canyon, with the platform also underpinning the 2023 Chevy Colorado. Meanwhile, production of both models takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

While the concept is good, be careful of placing anything you would worry about in there in a unfortunate rear-end accident! Tomg
Now something needs to be offered to make it watertight like GM advertised.
Mine seems to be water tight. I have been through some severe storms and a few car washes.
Mine isn’t water tight, but quite water resistant.
Wish my 2022 had some extra storage compartments built in somewhere! Under the rear seat would of been nice!
I prefer this over the mult-flax tail gate. While good in concept an all all electric complicated and expensive option isn’t my cup of tea. If they made a manual version then maybe. But this storage compartment is a great idea, and I would expect it to be water proof, but wouldn’t need it to be. All I would put in there are towing and hauling items (straps, hitches, etc). Bring this to the Silverado/Sierra.
my lid seems to be worped after cold spell one side wont latch
What is the screw hole in center of compartment used for? Doesn’t lock either
