GM is asking its dealerships to increase sales of GMC Terrain Denali units equipped with the Black Diamond Edition package.
In fact, GM Authority has learned that GM is seeking to include the Black Diamond Edition (RPO code RFN) package in 40 percent of all Denali sales.
First made available for the 2022 GMC Terrain Denali, the Black Diamond Edition package brings a bevy of features for the exterior and interior. Priced at $3,240, it bundles the following content (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):
- Denali Premium Package content (PCV)
- SkyScape power sunroof (C3U)
- 19-inch aluminum painted wheels with After Midnight finish (PJO)
It’s important to note that the Black Diamond Edition package also includes the Denali Premium Package (PCV), priced separately at $1,445. It contains the following content:
- Ventilated driver seat (KU1)
- Ventilated front passenger seat (KU3)
- Heated rear seats (KA6)
- HD Surround Vision (UV2)
- Automatic Parking Assist (UFQ)
- Adaptive Cruise Control (KSG)
The Black Diamond Edition package is only available on the 2022 GMCÂ Terrain Denali trim level, and will require Ebony Twilight Metallic exterior paint (paint code GB8), priced at $495.
As a reminder, the 2023 GMC Terrain receives only minor changes for the new model year. The most significant of which is the introduction of the new turbocharged LSD gasoline engine, replacing the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine. Rated at 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, the 1.5L I4 LSD pairs with the GM 9-speed automatic transmission.
Under the skin, the 2023 GMC Terrain rides on the GM D2 platform. This architecture is shared with the Terrain’s corporate platform-mate, the 2023 Chevy Equinox.
Production of the 2023 GMC Terrain began on August 22nd, 2022 at the GM San Luis Potosà plant in Mexico.

Its a gmc terrain. I mean if you buy this, are you really that focused on things like this?
Agreed. The terrain is supposed to be the budget friendly vehicle from GMC. Why someone would want to spend denali dollars on the engine choices this thing has is beyond me.
Yes. I have a 2019 GMC Terrain Denali with everything mentioned in the article except the new engine. Mine has a 252HP turbo charged IL4. Same exterior paint and leather interior. I’m very pleased with this car. I traded a loaded 2016 Cadillac SRX for it and couldn’t be happier. We’ve taken several long trips in this vehicle and found it to be every bit as comfortable and quiet as the Cadillac.
The Terrain Denali has an upgraded suspension system over the lower-trims. I found it every bit as comfortable as a Buick Lacrosse I rode in despite having a wheelbase 7 inches shorter. GM did an outstanding job on that suspension system, and I wish they put it in more of their vehicles.
I think GM must be trying to use up parts before a refresh for 2024.With 45% of Denali trim in black, this is like the 1920s when you could have any color you wanted as long as it was black!!
The Terrain was just refreshed for the 2022 model year. They are most likely using up parts before ending production in 2025.
No diamond pattern leather like in the Jimmy Diamond Edition? For shame.
Engine choice is ridiculous. The 2.0 litre turbo motor was great
Yes the black diamond it’s good looking option gm need to bring back the 2.0 l engine in the Denali trim then it will be a great again like it did before when originally in 2018 came out with the 2.0 l engine in the Denali trim right up to 2020 Denali!!
Haha, great again, like the engine made any difference to the buyer. It is a good vehicle with either engine, not great. The buying public weren’t buying that engine, and most buyers at this class of vehicle give zero F’s about the engine in it. As long as it moves well and gets good MPG and is reliable that is all they care about which the 1.5 does. Drive great around town, does well in the hills with the abundance of torque. It could use a little more highway passing power but most in this class again aren’t the pass on two lanes types. 2.0 was good, so is the 1.5 and perfectly fine for this vehicle and competitive in the segment.
If it does not have the 2.0L turbo engine then why bother?
Because it is selling in droves which says no one cares about the engine as long as it is competitive and drives well which it does. Not to mention it is good on gas and the low-end torque means it drives well away from stops and in the hills.
Actually it’s one of the few GM models not selling, and the used values are dropping too. I might pick one up with the 2 liter motor
