The 2022 GMC Canyon is the final model year for the current second-gen pickup, dropping in just before the next generation arrives for the 2023 model year. Now, however, GM Authority has learned that the 2022 GMC Canyon is no longer available to order with the optional Sport Bar and Lighting Package.
According to GM Authority sources, the 2022 GMC Canyon’s Sport Bar and Lighting Package is no longer available to order, and will remain so for the rest of the 2022 model year. The package is tagged with RPO code PCL, and includes the following content (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):
- Sport bar (SBY)
- Off-Road lights (S3X)
The Sport Bar and Lighting Package was previously priced at $2,295, and was offered as an optional extra for the 2022 GMC Canyon Elevation Standard, Elevation, AT4 Cloth, and AT4 Leather trim levels. The package was not offered for the 2022 GMC Canyon Denali.
Notably, GM Authority has also exclusively reported that production of the 2.8L I4 LWN turbodiesel Duramax engine for the 2022 GMC Canyon was built out as of July 4th production. As a result, the pickup is no longer available to order with the turbodiesel engine option. In addition to the diesel engine, the 2022 GMC Canyon was also offered with the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGZ gasoline engine, as well as the naturally aspirated 2.5L I4 LCV gasoline engine.
GM Authority also previously reported that the 2022 GMC Canyon Extended Cab is no longer available to order as the automaker prepares to shift production to the next-generation model early next year. As a reminder, the GMC Canyon rides on the GM GMT 31XX platform, while production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.
Looking ahead, the 2023 GMC Canyon introduces an all-new third generation, with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine offered as the exclusive powertrain option.
