As we reported on March 2nd, GM is currently offering a $250 allowance on the 2022 Encore GX when financed with GM Financial, as well as interest-free financing for up to 36 months. For the uninitiated, the Buick Encore GX slots in between the Buick Encore and Buick Envision in the brand’s vehicle lineup. Despite the naming similarities, the Encore GX is unrelated to the Encore, riding on GM’s newer, more up-to-date VSS-F (Vehicle Strategy Set-Front) platform rather than the older Gamma 2 platform like the Encore.

The 2022 Buick Encore GX introduced various minor changes and updates to the nameplate. This included the deletion of five exterior colors and the addition of four new ones. The turbocharged 1.3L L3T I3 engine replaced the 1.2L LIH I3 engine as the standard powerplant in the Essence trim level, and the smaller engine was unavailable to order in all trim levels for a while but it’s back again.

Production of the 2023 Buick Encore will begin at the GM Bupyeong plant in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, South Korea on April 24th, 2022. Details on changes and updates that may be applied to the newer 2023 model year Encore GX will soon be available.

  1. The L3T and LIH engines are I3, not I4.

  2. What happened to the Buick Enspire EV, I been waiting for 5 years ? what’s taking so long G. M. ???

  3. If I was forced to choose between the Encore GX or the Chevy Trailblazer, I would choose the Encore GX Essence ST. I prefer the styling to this over the Chevy. Pricing isn’t horrible either. I would consider it also because it isn’t made in China, unlike the Envision.

The other vehicles I have been looking at are made in Japan. Not that I want to get something that wasn’t made in North America, but it is becoming increasingly more challenging to find domestically assembled vehicles in this segment.

    1. The Japanese based companies make the best entry level compact crossover, without a doubt. Followed by the Koreans… Chevy b/c CUVs aren’t quite up to that level and are generally assembled in Korea or Central America. It’s a little more alarming that gm has not a single offering to compete for sales with the Civic and Corolla as gas prices continue to rise.
