GM Resolves 2022 Cadillac XT6 Heated Rear Seat And Steering Wheel Unavailability

The 2022 Cadillac XT6 is the third model year of the first-generation luxury crossover, introducing just a few changes over the preceding 2021 model year. Critically, the 2022 Cadillac XT6 was one of several Cadillac models affected by the global microchip shortage, resulting in limited availability for the heated rear seat and heated steering wheel features. Now, GM Authority has learned that General Motors has resolved those issues for the 2022 Cadillac XT6.

According to GM Authority sources, units of the 2022 Cadillac XT6 produced on and after February 21st will once again offer the Heated rear outboard seats (RPO code KA6) and Heated steering wheel (RPO code KI3) features without constraint. Both features were previously under constraint due to the global microchip shortage, which affected units produced between November 15th, 2021 and February 20th, 2021.

Heated rear outboard seats (RPO code KA6) are normally included and only available with the Comfort and Air Quality Package, which is tagged with RPO code PS1 and priced at $750. The Comfort and Air Quality Package is available on 2022 Cadillac XT6 Premium Luxury and Sport trims, but is not offered on the base Luxury trim. The Comfort and Air Quality Package includes the following content (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • Air Ionizer (KEM)
  • Driver and front passenger ventilated seats (KU9)
  • Rear outboard heated seats (KA6)

Meanwhile, the Heated steering wheel (RPO code KI3) is normally standard on 2022 Cadillac XT6 Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels, but is not available on the Luxury trim.

As a reminder the 2022 Cadillac XT6 is available with two engine options, including the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 237 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm, and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, rated at 6,700 rpm and 271 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm. Both engines connect to the GM 9-speed automatic transmission.

Under the body panels, the 2022 Cadillac XT6 rides on the GM C1 platform. Production for the North American market takes place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

  1. All these “shortages” make me anxious about future critical parts availability for my XTS and Impala. That’s why I’m glad to see the 3.6 soldier on in these things.
