At the end of July, General Motors announced the refreshed 2022 Chevy Traverse for Mexico as a prelude to the official arrival of the model initially scheduled for the last quarter of the year. Now, the automaker has just launched the 2022 Traverse in the Latin country with an updated schedule, moving the crossover’s sales start in the Mexican market to early 2022.
The refreshed 2022 Chevy Traverse was first unveiled to the Mexican media during a year-end corporate event by GM’s local subsidiary, which reaffirmed the commitment to the full-size crossover despite its particularly low popularity in the country. The company expects the second-generation Traverse’s revised exterior design and equipment upgrades to attract more Mexican buyers. The 2022 edition represents the fifth model year of the current-gen model.
“Chevrolet Traverse has a great acceptance among our customers and families, and with the changes in design and equipment it will provide them with pleasant trips,” said Marketing Manager for Chevrolet at GM Mexico, Yammil Guaida, in an official press release. “Our renewed full-size crossover stands out mainly for its large cargo volume, new technologies and comfort for up to 8 passengers,” he added.
As is the case with the previous model year, the refreshed 2022 Chevy Traverse will arrive in Mexico exclusively in mid-grade LT trim. It is still powered by the only powertrain offered by the model internationally, composed of the 3.6L LFY V6 engine, which generates 305 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, along with GM’s 9-speed automatic transmission.
Inside, the Mexican-market 2022 Chevy Traverse in Mexico incorporates new technological features and more active safety systems as standard. Upgrades include Chevrolet’s latest infotainment system with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration as well as wireless phone charging. In addition, it now boasts more advanced safety systems such as Forward Collision Alert with pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Warning, Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert with pedestrian detection, Adaptive Cruise Control with stop and go and Rear Camera Mirror.
The refreshed 2022 Chevy Traverse will go on sale in Mexico during the first quarter of next year, remaining the biggest crossover in Chevrolet’s lineup and across the entire Mexican market. It will be available in one of eight paint colors, a black cabin, as well as seating configurations for seven or eight passengers. The suggested price is 1,045,900 MXN, about $50,200 USD at the current exchange rate.

I wish Chevrolet would upgrade its interiors. The Traverse is a great looking SUV, but the interior, even in top trim level, looks cheap, in my opinion.
Don’t give her any ideas or they’ll start slapping 39-in TV screens in the middle of the dash and double the price of the car!
