GM Cancelled Some 2022 Chevy Trailblazer Orders

General Motors has canceled hundreds of dealer orders for the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer, GM Authority has learned. The canceled orders consist of 2022 Chevy Trailblazer LS FWD and LT FWD models equipped with the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine.

GM Authority reached out to Senior Manager, Chevrolet EV, Car, Crossover, Performance Vehicle and Motorsports Communications, Kevin Kelly, who shed some light on the situation:

“We did have to modify some dealer orders for the 2022 Trailblazer due to the ongoing, industry-wide semiconductor shortage,” Kelly told GM Authority. “This did only affect vehicles equipped with the 1.2L engine. It’s important to note that no customer orders were affected by this change. We expect to resume production of the 1.2L Trailblazers when the semiconductor situation improves.”

The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer is the second model year for the nameplate’s all-new crossover body style, introducing a handful of changes and updates over the initial 2021 model year. Among these is the addition of a heated steering wheel to the options list, offered for the LT trim level as part of the Premium Seating Package (RPO code PCL) or Adaptive Cruise Control Package (PGY). The heated steering wheel feature is also standard on the Activ and RS trims, while base LS trim will not offer the feature.

What’s more, 2022 Chevy Trailblazer models equipped with the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine and FWD are rated at 29 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway, and 30 mpg combined, representing a 1-mpg increase for both the city rating and combined rating when compared to similarly equipped 2021-model-year vehicles.

The latest 2022 model year also deletes four exterior paint options, namely Midnight Blue Metallic, Dark Copper Metallic, Scarlet Red Metallic, and Pacific Blue Metallic. All four colors will be replaced with new paint options.

It’s also worth noting that the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer drops the L trim level, leaving the LS trim as the least-expensive model in the crossover’s lineup.

Pricing for the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer starts at $22,795.

  1. Poor mileage for that small of a 3 cylinder engine.

  2. When is GM going to upgrade the classic trailblazer ( bigger size) like the Tahoe and suburban models, If so I can’t wait , I like my big girl toys. And by the way, when are you going to bring back The Oldsmobile . Thank you 😊

    1. They’ve already reused the Trailblazer name on this small vehicle, so never, or at least not for a very long time, but probably never.
      As for Oldsmobile, also never.

  3. Better question when are they going to put a real engine in this thing. 1.5T would be a nice change.

    1. $ is answer. 1.5T costs $50 more so Mary heck no let them have a lawnmower power train.

  4. What happened I had a 2007 trailblazer ss and wow , now they have this lawnmower engine ,inside a cheap plastic milk jug, instead if improving a good vehicle like the Japanese ND Koren do they just get the quick profilt and drop it,they could have had a or made a good bronco killer or jeep killer instead they make lawnmowers with cheap plastic covers smh

  5. I forecasting this decade to be the most uncompetitive product period for GM. No investment in ICE vehicles do they are going to lipstick the already old line up again and again. No new ICE power trains. By time they flip to fully EV they will be a company with few customers to transition.

  6. This story is missing the fact that GM is also not offering the 3.6L V6 on the 2022 Blazer models. I’ve had enough of the noise from GM 4 cylinder engines and won’t buy another GM vehicle with a 4 cyl. Transmission hum is always a problem with four cylinders. Evidence of this is the fact that GM installs a “noise cancellation” speaker in the rear of their vehicles that have 4 cylinders. A system I’ve found doesn’t work canceling noise at all.
GM is good at doing one thing…offering consumers fewer choices. Eliminating makes, models, and options doesn’t force the consumer into a different GM model, it forces the consumer to a different non-GM make. It blows my mind that the head honcho’s at GM think that shrinking consumer choices will increase GM’s market share.
Problem with GM is that nobody in upper management has the courage to step-up and say “this is a dumb idea”. GM has a bunch of “yes men” who sit around and pat each other on the back while their ship is sinking!
Look no further then GM’s decision to cancel their 6 cylinder option and instead put a 4 cylinder in a full sized Silverado. I took one for a test drive a year ago and laughed at the salesman for having the nerve to keep one on his lot. It was noisy, had transmission hum and all for a few miles more per gallon? This decision is typical of one of the many bad decisions coming from the Detroit Renaissance center.

    1. Great comment I agree100% it’s really sad how GM water down it’s brand to just hampster engines running there TRUCKS , they will file bankruptcy again just watch Tesla, is killing them in the electric market with out even trying , ford as well they never want to change and adapt …. Time will tell

  7. very true statement about GM products its really sad how they cram 1.5 and 4 cyl lawnmower engines into there vehicles. and do APPERANCE PACKAGES example, colored seats black-out bow-ties instead of doing serious engines like the (07 ss trailblazer those days are long gone) there interior are just basic black cheap interiors, then they wonder why kia and hyundai are running away with design, style, performance etc etc.. sad very sad

  8. When can I order a 2022 Chev TrailBlazer RS? I’ve contacted 7 different dealers and they can’t give me an answer!

  9. Wow! Which one of you uninformed guys said you can’t get a v6 engine is the new 22 Blazer? Of course you can. Have you had your head in the sand?
Second of all, have any of you heard of the worldwide microchip shortage. Pretty hard to make cars without microchips. I do agree it is pretty shortsighted of all the car manufacturers not to make their car parts and cars in this country. BUT, that’s the way the cookie crumbles. We are all in the same stupid, unfortunate boat.
Not to mention, who cares about Tesla and all of those electric cars? There are parts of this country that would never have a charging station for you to charge on a long trip. No interest in this at all.

  10. I’ve had a 2022 Trailblazer RS/AWD on order since August 2021. The build date keeps getting pushed back. It’s now 2022 and who knows when I’ll actually see the vehicle. Target production date was 12/13/21, but no updates since. Very frustrating.
