AEV Skid Plates Now Available On Chevy Silverado And GMC Sierra Pickups

As an off-road-obsessed aftermarket company, American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) is in the game of building an assortment of all-terrain goodies for folks who want to get off the beaten path. With that in mind, AEV has released a wide range of skid plates that are now available for the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks.

As same pieces as the ones found underneath the Silverado ZR2 Bison and Sierra AT4X AEV Edition, these skid plates are engineered to meet OEM standards, and can be installed in less than an hour. Notably, these unique skid plates are designed for both Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 models, as well as Silverado HD and Sierra HD units.

In regard to the light-duty Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 examples, the available skid plate options are as follows:

As for the heavy-duty Silverado HD and Sierra HD models, there are just three skid plates on offer, as American Expedition Vehicles believes that the rear differential on these trucks is so massive it doesn’t require any extra protection:

It’s worth noting that most of the skid plates individually retail for roughly $500, although a few are more affordable than that. Check them out here.

As a reminder, the Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 are offered with a number of engine options, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.

In regard to the Silverado HD and Sierra HD, the two heavy-duty pickups are available with either the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque or the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque.

Under the skin lie variants of the GM T1 platform, while production takes place at various facilities across North America.
