GM has lived up to its promise to launch its new Global B electronic vehicle communications platform – also known as the Vehicle Intelligence Platform or VIP – across most of its model lineup for the 2023 model year, with many nameplates now featuring the advanced electronic architecture.
Global B architecture is designed to run multiple advanced safety systems, technologies, and features simultaneously, ensuring these sophisticated electronics function smoothly together. The following table shows which models are now equipped with the platform:

Overall, around half, or 46 percent of GM models are outfitted with Global B architecture as of the 2023 model year. Nameplates from all four of The General’s chief passenger vehicle brands, including Buick, Cadillac, Chevy, and GMC, are available with the architecture, as are the BrightDrop Zevo 400 and BrightDrop Zevo 600 EV light commercial vans from its BrightDrop subsidiary.
This number is up sharply from 2022 model-year vehicles, when Global B was only used in about a third of the major nameplates. Looking forward, the new architecture is expected to be found on 66 percent of 2024 model-year vehicles and on more than 80 percent of 2025 models.
Global B can support multiple high-tech components at once, keeping systems working in sync for maximum convenience. The latest active safety systems, electric propulsion systems, and infotainment systems can all be run on the platform. It also enables over-the-air (OTA) software updates to spare vehicles the hassle of getting those updates installed at the dealership instead.
The architecture is also needed to run the Super Cruise driver assistance feature and the Ultra Cruise system that will eventually replace it. Updates to Super Cruise can be patched in via the OTA function. With GM doubling the Super Cruise compatible road network in North America already in motion, this functionality will add extensive new semi-autonomous driving coverage to existing vehicles.
Global B will also make implementation of future software-based features easier, saving owners time, money, and trouble when GM develops new functions for existing systems.

This article has a subtle but FAR more significant bit of news under the surface. You can see all the new models coming for the ’25 model yar. And, lo and behold, praise the lord, an all-new Malibu IS on the way. You heard it here first.
I was JUST about to type out that same thing.
I thought the XT6 was ending with the 2024 MY. I assume the 2025s will just be 2024s (which were 2023s). If so they would probably be out very early.
What about the 2020 CT5? I thought it had Global B also
