The third-generation Chevy Colorado got its big debut for the 2023 model year, dropping in with new exterior styling, an overhauled interior, an updated model line, and a new powertrain. The 2024 Chevy Colorado also debuts several important updates. Notably, both model years are available with non-black seat belts. Here’s what you need to get this low-cost option.
Both the 2023 Chevy Colorado and the 2024 Chevy Colorado are equipped as standard with black seat belts across the board. However, red seat belts and yellow seat belts are also offered.
To get red seats belts (RPO code 3F9), select the Z71 trim level with the Jet Black / Adrenaline Red interior colorway, as well as either Cloth / Evotex upholstery, or Perforated leather. Meanwhile, the yellow seat belt option (RPO code 3M9) is available on ZR2 models in conjunction with the Jet Black / Artemis interior colorway, with either Cloth / Evotex or Perforated leather upholstery.
Both options are available for $50, and both are optional for 2023-model-year and 2024-model-year Chevy Colorado.
The 2023 Chevy Colorado introduces a new exterior design incorporating a more premium look, with LED lighting offered on Z71 and ZR2 trims, and wheel sizing up to 20 inches in diameter. The overhauled interior features an 11.3-inch diagonal color infotainment screen as standard, while the Chevy Safety Assist package (Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, etc.) is standard as well.
As for the powertrain lineup, the 2023 Chevy Colorado offers three engine options, starting with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine (237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque), followed by the TurboPlus 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine (310 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque) and the Turbo High-Output 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine (310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque). The latest 2024 Chevy Colorado drops the mid-range TurboPlus 2.7L I4 L3B from the lineup, leaving the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine and Turbo High-Output 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine as the two remaining powerplant options.
The updated 31XX-2 platform provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

Coloured seat belts might seem neat when new, but down the road after accidents that require replacement or a mechanism failure, it is typical that the replacement belts are only available in one colour.
Notice: Leather is front seats only on the Z71 Colorado. 🥴🤪🤣
