High customer satisfaction and the lowest number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) propelled the 2023 Chevy Blazer to the top of its category for seat quality in a recent study by data analytics firm J.D. Power.Â
The 2023 Chevy Blazer ranked first in the Mass Market Midsize / Large SUV segment of the J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Seat Quality and Satisfaction Study, with its 7.6 seat problems per 100 vehicles, tying it with the Subaru Outback and putting it ahead of the Honda Passport and Kia Sorento.
The study looked at the seats and seat belts of every new 2023 model-year vehicle sold in the U.S., specifically focusing on owner experiences during the first 90 days of ownership. It measured customer satisfaction – “things gone right” – and problems per 100 vehicles – “things gone wrong” – to choose winners, including the Chevy Blazer, in each of various vehicle categories.
Also noted is that more technologically advanced seats, including power adjustable seats and memory seats, are more satisfactory to customers and cause fewer problems (PP100). Manually adjusting seats often have more problems per 100. These features usually start on premium vehicles, then later become progressively adopted in mass-market vehicles as costs come down.
Notably, the 2023 Chevy Blazer is equipped with an 8-way power adjustable driver seat as standard on all trim levels, including the base 2LT trim, though the standard 2LT passenger seat is 4-way manual adjustable.
The J.D. Power seat study gathered info from the drivers of 93,380 new vehicles from the 2023 model year, including both buyers and lessees. Its goal is to provide “a powerful benchmarking tool that allows suppliers and manufacturers to easily identify strengths and weaknesses” by using real-world customer satisfaction data from February, March, April, and May of calendar 2023.
The refreshed 2023 Chevy Blazer features a revised exterior with new lighting and reworked front and rear fascias, all-new 10-inch diagonal infotainment screen and a new available colorway for the interior, and a lineup of advanced safety features as standard, along with optional Adaptive Cruise Control.
Two engine choices are available for the Chevy Blazer with the turbocharged 2.0L LSY I4 gasoline engine, rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, providing standard motivation for the 2LT, 3LT and Premier trim levels.
Meanwhile, the naturally aspirated 3.6L LGX V6 gasoline engine offering 308 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque is standard on the RS trim and optional on the 3LT and Premier. Both engines are matched with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission, with standard FWD and optional AWD.
The GM C1 platform provides structure for the 2023 Chevy Blazer under the skin. Production takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

The Chevy Equinox has better seats than the Chevy Blazer according to the same study. I hope the new Equinox EV will have great seats, too.
The red RS seats on all exterior colors has bothered me even pre-EV. You want a red RS? You get red seats, sweet. But you want a Blue RS? You also can only get red seats!
@Chuck I agree with you I would also like to see interior colors come back like blue, red, this to me would be really cool if you want that as an option instead of black, tan or cream
Being the owner of the current Blazer I find this article humorous at best. The seats are one of the things I like least about my Blazer. They have absolutely no bolstering whatsoever which means anytime you’re even slightly aggressive around a corner you and your passenger go flying. What’s the sense in having a well handling vehicle, and it very much is, if you can’t utilize it. The seats are also very short, I’m 5’10 and my legs hang over the seats in the middle of my hamstrings which is terrible for long drives. It’s as if GM designed the seats as small as possible to give the interior the illusion of more space at the expense of individual comfort.
